UNAM Food Science and Technology Department
The Department of Food Science and Technology offers a B. Sc. (Honours) in Food Science and Technology that provides students with knowledge, skills and critical thinking capacity in food security and nutrition, food safety, food processing, applied food engineering and quality management systems, in food production preservation and distribution.
Also, the programme equips students with a multidisciplinary approach to research in food science, with innovative skills in food value addition and marketing food based business establishment and management projecting towards employment creation, poverty eradication, reducing malnutrition hence attaining food security. The department also offers post graduate degrees by research to the levels of M. Sc. and Ph. D. the main focus of which is need response research assisting food production, processing and distribution entities to solve pertinent challenges encountered and to improve quality and service delivery to clients both at home and at international markets.
