Pharmaceutics is the science of taking a chemical of medicinal possibility and engineering it into a medicinal product for human and/or animal use. It brings together a comprehensive spectrum of the applied sciences in the field including biotechnology, nanotechnology, biopharmaceutics, microbiology and physical pharmacy, to optimise the safety and use of modern medicines. This field is of great application in the industrial pharmaceutical sector, however, it also equips practicing pharmacists with the best knowledge of medicines use to inform their judgement and competency for pharmaceutical care of the patient and is a unique complement to the health care professional team.
