Accommodation
Students are accomodated in the Hostels at Chimwaga Area. The University does not provide accomodation for families. Any student is free to find own accomodation off campus. Students who are interested in the University accomodation should contact the dean of Students or Warden who is responsible for arrangement of such accomodation fees at an approved rate. All payments for accomodation are made ai advance. Students who fail to pay accomodation fees are not allowed to sit for University Examination(if accomodated by university).
Cafeteria Services
All Colleges have commercialized catering services. Students are required to pay for all their meals. University hostels do not provide cooking facilities, and therefore students are not allowed to prepare meals in the University Hostels.
Medical Services
Medical services are available, but all students are required to pay medical fees. The fees do not include expenses for dentures and spectacles. Students and staff who prefer to be treated by private practitioners while University or Government services are available will not be given assistance unless referred to by the University Medical Officer. Prior to admission to the University, each student is required to furnish the University with satisfactory medical report, including a chest X-ray from a recognized medical practitioner or medical officer.
Sports and Games
While the primary function of any University is teaching, research and consultancy, the University of Dodoma (UDOM) recognizes the value of sports and recreation in promoting good health; well-being; competitive spirit and good fellowship. UDOM has therefore, committed itself to promote a variety of recreational and competitive sports and encourage both students; staff and the entire University community to participate in these activities. UDOM has the following sports facilities: 1. Five standard football pitches one with running tracks. 2. Six standard basketball courts 3. Two standard tennis courts 4. Three standard netball courts 5. One standard volleyball court 6. Four standard volleyball pitches 7. One Swimming pool 8. Table tennis facilities. University of Dodoma is also a member of the following sports organizations: 1. Tanzania Universities Sports Association (TUSA) 2. East African University Sports Federation (EAUSF) 3. African University Sports Federation (FASU) 4. International University Sports Federation (FISU) UDOM is a member of SHIRIKISHO LA MICHEZO YA MASHIRIKA YA UMMA TANZANIA (SHIMMUTA).
Students Organization
The University has a students association “The University of Dodoma Students Organization” (UDOSO) of which all students are automatically members by registration. The UDOSO Office is under the mentorship of the Office of Dean of Students. The Organization is an important link between students and the university management. The organization contributes in decision making on matters that affect students welfare, social activities, games and sports entertainment. Main aims of UDOSO include: To ensure academic and social well-being of UDOM students To liaise with other Universities for exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences so as to be aware of what is happening globally. To represent students in the University participatory organs
Religious Life
Tanzania is the secular state .Therefore students have complete freedom of religious worships as long as it is intended to promote the well-being of the students life and encourage positive religious values.
