VETA |
Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) was established by an Act of Parliament No. 1 of 1994 charged with broad tasks of coordinating, regulating, financing, Promoting and providing vocational education and training in Tanzania. The history of VETA dates back to 1940 when the Apprenticeship Ordinance was enacted to guide training in the industry. The Vocational Training Act of 1974, which established the National Vocational Training Division was replaced by the Vocational Educational and Training Act. Of 1994. |

KIGOMA REGION |
Kigoma Region covers an area of 45,066 sq. kilometers, out of which 37,037 sq. kilometers are suitable for human settlements, agriculture and other economic activities whereas 8,029 sq. kilometers is an area which constitutes an aquatic part, along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The Region is located in the West of Tanzania Mainland |
TABORA REGIONAL PROFILE |
Tabora Region covers a land area of 76,151 sq. kilometers of which 34,986 sq. kilometers is Forest Reserves and 17,122 sq. kilometers are Game Reserves within which there are (30) thirty fishing dams and ponds. The remaining area which is 24,043 sq kilometers is suitable for human settlement, agriculture and other economic activities. The Region is situated in the mid – west part of the country on central plateau.
The Analysis of the General Environment in the Zone The general state and status of roads in Tabora and Kigoma regions for example, indicate probably the poorest on the mainland. Tabora which is centrally placed region in the Zone has poor road network and is now looking forward in future to open upon neighboring regions and Tabora itself for investments. The link up of the southern regions of Mbeya, Rukwa and Iringa with the northern regions of Geita, Kagera, Mwanza and Shinyanga will in future depend on the Tabora network. Similarly is the link up to eastern regions of Dodoma and Singida and to the western regions of Kigoma and Kagera |
ZONAL COVERAGE |
VETA Western Zone covers Tabora, Shinyanga, Kigoma and Simiyu geographical regions that are located in Western part of the country. Previously Simiyu used to be part of Shinyanga Region and therefore, part of both Western and Lake VETA Zones. The Central Government in recent days resolved to incorporate three Districts from Shinyanga Region and two Districts from Mwanza Region to form the newly established Simiyu Region located in the Western Zone. The Western Zone which comprises of Tabora, Shinyanga and Kigoma regions (with exclusion of Simiyu Region), lies between latitudes 30 and 60 South of Equator and between Longitudes 300 and 350 East of Greenwich. It covers a total area of 171,941.8 sq. kilometers of which 34,986 sq. km is forest reserves and 17,122 sq. km is Game reserves. Western Zone is within the tropical Zone with different temperatures ranging from one Region to another. SHINYANGA REGION |

Shinyanga Region, before restructuring its districts by the Government, coved an area of 50,720.8 sq. kilometers which is suitable for human settlements, agriculture and other economic activities. The Region is located in the North West of Tanzania in the southern part of Lake Victoria zone. The Region is bordered by other regions including Singida in the South East, Arusha in the East, Simiyu in the North East, Mwanza in the North, Geita in the North West, Tabora in the South and Kigoma in the West. | ||
