Job Summary: The Child Sponsorship and Development Facilitator will guide and facilitate programme development, monitoring and implementation in an Area Program in line with programme plans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Guide Area Program programme planning and Development:

  • Support and guide Area Program scheduled assessments, evaluations and designs.
  • The incumbent will facilitate development of the Area Program design document and Annual Operations Plan / Detailed Implementation Plan.
  • Gather and analyze community perspectives, and prepare annual work plans and cash flows.
  • Write concept papers and proposals for non-sponsorship fundraising.
  • In charge of monitoring of progress and achievements of programmes in the Area Program.

Mobilization of communities, local organizations and institutions for programme development and implementation:

  • The jobholder will mobilize community participation in programme/project planning, development, implementation and monitoring.
  • Mobilize government institutions and technical staff in the planning and implementation of Area Program programmes and plans.
  • Mobilize grassroots organizations, Churches and other civil society organizations on poverty reduction.

Build Area Program-level partnerships, networks and coalitions with civil society organizations and local government institutions:

  • Facilitate networking with government institutions and other development partners within the Area Program in planning and implementation of development programmes.
  • Identify and nurture local partnerships with grassroots civil society organizations, Churches and sub county government.
  • Build and facilitate the capacity and growth of community and grassroots organizations.
  • Facilitate growth of strong grassroots movements on specific advocacy issues.
  • Build leadership and mobilization capacity of programme/project committees and facilitate their participation in programme/project development activities.

Facilitate capacity building of communities and local organizations: Support and facilitate graduated growth of partnerships and community based organizations.

Implementation of Area Program programmes and interventions in line with approved designs and Annual Operation Plans / Detailed Implementation Plans: Organize community programme development and resource mobilization of planned activities such as community contributions.

Child protection:

  • Facilitate the operations and functioning of Area Program child protection committee.
  • Ensure adherence at Area Program of child protection policy, guidelines and protocols.
  • Identify the wellbeing and child abuse cases and report in line with child protection policy and guidelines.
  • Work closely with local leaders to protect children from child violations and abuses on child protection.
  • Tasked with the sensitization of children including all Registered Children on child protection.
  • Sensitize children, guardians/parents and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities with a view to identify child violations.
  • Regularly report cases of child abuse in the programme area.
  • Report cases of child incidents for follow up.
  • Attend to Sponsors and follow up on Child protection issues, visit report.

Management of sponsorship performance:

  • Keenly monitor performance of sponsorship performance in line with child sponsorship standards.
  • Operationalise integration of Child Sponsorship operations with other sector development intervention to realize work efficiency and Child Wellbeing.
  • Ensure that all Registered Children and their households meaningfully participate and benefit from Programme activities.
  • Identify integration opportunities between Child Sponsorship and technical Programme operations for work efficiency and Child Wellbeing.
  • Make meaningful contribution in designing and redesign of Programmes as per Sponsorship guidelines and partnership Strategic direction.
  • Technically guide design, monitoring and evaluation processes in line with Child Sponsorship Programming guidelines.
  • Make meaningful contribution in designing and redesign of Programmes as per Sponsorship guidelines and partnership Strategic direction.
  • Guide Cluster on how to utilize Child Sponsorship systems information for effective child wellbeing programming.
  • Effectively and consistently utilize Child Sponsorship information to influence programming.
  • Guide Child Sponsorship and Development Assistants and local stakeholders on how to utilize Step information for planning in order to address child wellbeing.

Proper and efficient management and use of Area Program finance and assets:

  • Ensure Area Program financial and asset resources are managed and used in line with policy guidelines.
  • Provide accurate and timely variances explanations on Area Program over and under expenditures.

Monitoring and track progress of programme implementation:

  • Organize Area Program level forum assess progress of implementation of planned activities.
  • Monitor progress of programme/project interventions against plans within the Area Program.
  • Organize review, reflection and learning forum for Area Program staff, community, local organizations and government.
  • Tasked with the documentation and sharing of programme learning

Reporting:

  • Produce Area Program quality and timely reports to keep track of progress of planned activities within the area of operation.
  • Prepare and submit timely and quality bi-annual and annual reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the World Vision Child Sponsorship Development Facilitator job placement should hold a University degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working with communities in a development organization
  • Skills in Project management and implementation.
  • Broad knowledge of development work and ability to integrate it with sponsorship
  • Competences in managing business process in large organizations
  • Ability to identify training needs among direct reports
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be highly reliable and independent
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good networking and advocacy skills
  • Practicing accountability & integrity
  • Practicing gender and cultural diversity
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle is required
