About US:
Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is a national non-government organization which was founded in 1986 by Ugandan mothers committed to providing relief aid to needy children left parentless by the civil turbulence of the mid-1980’s and the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization and its entities according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead strategy formulation and implementation for UWESO and its entities.
- Ensure availability of resources for effective and efficient implementation of programmes.
- Maintain financial oversight and control and ensure judicious utilization of other resources in accordance with set policies.
- Oversee program implementation in accordance with donor guidelines and set Standard Operating Procedures.
- Foster a strong and productive senior management team.
- Coordinate communication between the Organization and stakeholders especially the Board. NEC.
- Oversee the management of entities; Migyera UWESO Training Institute (MUTI), UWESO Masulita Children’s Village and UWESO Multi Purpose Cooperative (UCG).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Advanced Degree in International Development, Public Administration, Social Sector Planning and Development, Business Administration or any other relevant field.
- Ten to twelve years of experience in the social development sector with a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior management level in a reputable National or International organization preferably in the NGO sector.
