About Project:
CORDAID is currently implementing an Integrated Project (cross sectors) in Imvepi refugee settlement in Arua District, of which a component is WASH related and especially sanitation and hygiene promotion related with the construction of Household latrines and Institutional permanent latrines.
Job Summary: The WASH Officer will support the CORDAID Project. The incumbent must have a bias in Hygiene Promotion with hands on experience and expertise in the implementation of the Sanitation and Hygiene components.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality and extensive trainings for WuCs and hygiene promoters among the refugees.
- Supervise all hygiene promoters, coach and guide them, apply corrective measures on time and where needed.
- Ensure timely delivery of all services Cordaid commits itself to.
- Control, monitor and record all and any materials’ movement, storage and delivery.
- Apply effective and timely communication to supervisor and colleagues, report any challenges on time
- Follow and implement Cordaid’s MEL plan (monitoring, evaluation and learning)
- Attach much importance to adequately reporting, documenting and keeping records
- Represent Cordaid in cluster meetings in the field
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Cordaid WASH Officer job must hold a Bachelor’s degree preferably in either Public Health or Environmental Health, or other related discipline such as Community Development.
- At least three years of experience working in sanitation and hygiene programs in the Uganda context, preferably with NGOs and in refugee settlements.
- Knowledge of all Governmental & partners guidelines pertaining to Hygiene Promotion standards in a Refugees setting.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
- High level of personal integrity
- Strong work ethic
