Mbarara University Research Training Initiative Admissions (MURIT)
Mbarara University Research Training Initiative (MURTI), with funding from the National Institutes of Health, is offering four two-year research fellowships to build research capacity of junior faculty to conduct medical research focusing on health care disparities in rural Uganda.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates to undertake a fellowship at MUST in the following scientific areas:
- HIV (prevention/treatment/care)
- Neurological Disorders in HIV
- Neurological Disorders in Cardiovascular Disease
- Mental Health
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be junior faculty holding a MUST faculty appointment as an Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine,
- Acceptable fields: MMED, MSc, Masters in Nursing program and PhD.
- Applicants should be near completion of their training and are at dissertation level. Those who completed Masters level training can apply
- Be a citizen of Uganda
- Must have a demonstrated research record
Submission of Application:
A full application, emailed to the address below, includes the following:
- Up-to-date curriculum vital (include a list of publications)
- Copy of MUST appointment letter
- One-page concept paper of 500 words or less detailing prior experience in research, a research objective and plan, and a commitment to a career in research
- Two letters of reference – one academic reference who has taught or supervised the applicant during training and one professional reference who has supervised the applicant at work
- Applicants should indicate the names of the references in their submission but the actual letters should be submitted directly to the email address below
