Dairy Development Authority is a semi-Autonomous Agency under Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIE). Dairy Development Authority was established under the Dairy Industry Act of 1998. Dairy Development Authority’s Mission is “To provide dairy development and regulatory services that will ensure increased production and consumption of milk, sustainable and profitable dairy industry sector that contribute to economic development and improved nutritional standards in Uganda.”
Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will prepare and maintain books of accounts and associated financial records, financial reports and directly supervise the revenue and expenditure and ensure accountability of the Authority’s funds
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity of financial accounting systems required to ensure that financial management and accounting systems are maintained.
- Participate in planning and budgeting processes to ensure that clear guidelines are available to the budget holders.
- Ensure that accounts are accurately charged and coded to respective cost centers.
- Ensure collection of Non-Tax Revenue (NTR) and reconciliation with URA system.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and other periodic accounts required giving recommendations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports as may be required by the supervisor.
- Ensure proper maintenance of all ledger Accounts.
- Ensuring that all financial transactions are processed in timely manner and that expenses are adequately budgeted and accurately coded.
- Prepare monthly Bank and Treasury General Account (TGA) reconciliation statements.
- Administer an effective control system to ensure timely returns and reports.
- Prepare commitment requisitions as transactions occur and instant updating of the vote book among others.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting) or Bachelor of Science Accounting & Finance or Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) from a recognized University.
- Level 11 professional training in Accounting Qualifications of ACCA/CPA.
- Three years of working experience.
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage
