About US:
The Kingdom Bunyoro Kitara was a very extensive, prestigious and famous at the height of its power. Socially, people were organised in strong clans with the royal clan of the Kings, princes and princesses. The King held executive, judiciary and legislative powers. His word was highly respected and almost equated to the word from God. The King’s subjects ensured that their King lacked nothing economically. Clans would bring food stuffs (Ebihotole) in turn and each clan had a specific duty to perform for the King. For example, Abaliisa clan were the shepherds of the Kings cattle (Enkorogi), the Abahamba clan were the hunters and body guards (Abakumirizi) for the King, the Abasiita clan being the artisans and craftsmen and the Bayaga clan were the chief entertainers of the King.
Job Summary: The Finance and Administration manager will plan, direct and control the financial resources of the Kingdom and ensure sound and overall financial management and performance in line with the Kingdom strategic plan
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy development and budgeting
- Participate in the development and Implementation of the Kingdom’s Strategic Plans; provide expert advice concerning funding, resource mobilization and optimization and financial sustainability
- Coordinate the annual BKK budgeting process
Financial performance and monitoring
- Plan, develop and implement the Kingdom’s financial performance strategies; ensuring efficiency In resource utilization
- Carry out project and product evaluations, consolidate possible scenario analyses, appraise and determine attractiveness to enter Into new projects/business partnerships; provide expert advice to the cabinet and concerned members of staff
- Lead efforts to review trends and coordinate strategies for cost optimization and generate cost-centre specific recommendations, engaging line departments In order to maximize Kingdom value.
- Oversee periodic reporting on performance against budget for all cost centers, revised estimates’ provide explanations for remedial action
Policy development, Implementation and monitoring
- Participate in development and Implementation of the required systems, policies and procedures to ensure all accounting, financial reporting of the Kingdom comply with appropriate internal controls
Administration
- Establish/refine and Implement the administration and logistics procedures In line with the Kingdom’s requirements
- Establish/refine and manage all procurement and logistics activities, including possible management of vehicles and drivers
- Manage and oversee that contractual commitments (e.g. for the rental of vehicles and/or premises) are expressed Informs appropriate and in line with the Kingdom procedures
- Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual BKK financial monitoring reports
- Review consolidated monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc financial reports; highlight to cabinet
- Prepare annual financial reports and have these audited by the BKK auditors
- Team development and performance management
- Manage the development and performance of line staff In line with the Kingdom’s performance management guidelines and Identify performance needs
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics
- Full professional Accounting qualifications e.g ACCA or CPA Experience
- Five years of related work experience
- Advanced numerical skills – statistical analysis, financial modeling and analysis at a high level
- IT – use of specialized accounting software
- Advanced people skills – leading a large department
- Process Management – required to develop financial systems and procedures
- Project Management – develop project plans, coordinate projects, completes projects on time
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication
- High level of creativity and innovation
- Good planning and organization skills
