The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Summary: The Senior Officer – Information Resource Center will mainly manage and promote the Fund’s information for consumption by key stakeholders and the public through relevant channels and publications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development, implementation and review of information management needs and solutions for the Fund.
- Document and maintain information management records retention and archiving processes and procedures, including the training and support of staff in their use.
- Administer the Document Management System and ensure that it is structured to meet legislative obligations for record-keeping.
- Coordinate and process incoming correspondence/e-mails to the Fund.
- Produces print and online publications.
- Proposes content for regular Fund’s Knowledge exchange sessions for Staff.
- Edits of technical documents and publications.
- Works with other departments to develop new web content.
- Oversees publication of the Fund’s magazine and other internal publications including diaries, calendars and other necessary publications.
- Handles all incoming e-mails on the Fund’s official mail address.
- Manages the Fund’s online community presence on a day-to-day basis.
- Provides an inquiry service for staff and various Fund’s stakeholders.
- Participates in the preparation and coordination of the production of publicity and educational materials for the Fund.
- Generates content and maintain updated Fund’s website with relevant content in a timely manner.
- Generates content and maintain interactive social media platforms.
- Prepares and/or edit newsletters, articles, advertorials and booklets on topical and strategic mandate issues in the media and other publication avenues.
- Articulates the Fund’s mandate to stakeholders both internal and external.
- Organizes the Fund’s events. parties, promotions, media engagements, exhibitions, and any other outreach programs.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.
Key Results:
- A well designed and re-aligned dynamic and interactive website.
- An information management system which offers effective and accessible recording, retrieval, storage, archiving and movement of all Fund documents.
- Information management guidelines and training material to assist users.
- Knowledge exchange sessions for Fund Staff.
- Internal and incoming e-mail is processed correctly and distributed within the nominated timeframe(s).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) Senior Officer – Information Resource Center job placement must hold a first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, library and information science or in a related field from an accredited institution, is essential.
- 3+ years’ experience in corporate communication with a busy organization is essential.
- Practical experience in the development, use and administration of document management systems, to meet legislative obligations for record-keeping including the creation, maintenance, storage, archiving and retrieval of files is desired.
- Experience in providing responsive and effective customer service and stakeholder management is desired.
- Demonstrated proficiency of MS office packages is desirable.
