Job Summary: The Driver is responsible for transporting NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved within an area, country or other location
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Generic Responsibilities
- Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
- Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle
- Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance /service
- Respect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical/vehicle policies at all times
- Maintain the logbook for all trips
- Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state etc
- In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and servicing
- Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment
- Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops
Specific responsibilities
- Mapping out movement routes in the camp and within the operations area
- Maintain neatness of the vehicle interior and exterior
- Reporting any accidental incidences with an incidence report to the line manager
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Driver job must hold a minimum of Senior four (O-Level qualification) is required
- Valid driving permit – DM class
- At least three years of experiences as a driver in an INGO / large organization
- Training in defensive driving will be an advantage
- Very good command of English
- Knowledge of Kishwali and Runyakitara
- Personal qualities
- Ability to keep confidential information

- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in a cross cultural team
- High level of integrity
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
