Days for Girls International is an award-winning NGO that works to shatter stigma and limitations associated with menstruation for improved health, education, and livelihoods. Through our Education & Access to Menstrual Products Strategy, Days for Girls provides holistic menstrual health education curriculum and increases women and girls’ access to menstrual products. This takes place through our Global Programs arm, which trains enterprise leaders to establish locally owned and operated businesses that:
- Produce menstrual products for women and girls including our patented DfG Washable Pad Kit,
- increase income for entrepreneurs and workers, and
- demonstrate leadership and change agency in their communities.
Through our Policy & Advocacy Strategy, Days for Girls educates and builds connections with national and international policymakers, coalitions, and organizations who can advance, accelerate and amplify the importance of menstrual health in improving education and livelihood outcomes for women and girls. To date, Days for Girls has reached more than 1.7 million women and girls in 144 countries on 6 continents with quality, sustainable menstrual care solutions, and health education.
Job Summary: Days for Girls seeks an East Africa Regional Supply Chain Consultant to optimize supply chain of materials required for enterprises in the East Africa Region. In the East Africa region, Days for Girls currently supports enterprises in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and DRC. Materials consist of textiles-based inputs including cotton, flannel, snaps, PUL, Makintosh, and others. Goals for this engagement are centered on the optimization of DfG supply chain systems in order to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and maintain high quality of inputs:
Materials
- Source materials which meet DfG quality standards
- Source materials produced locally (EAC region) wherever possible
- Improve cost effectiveness of sourcing
Cost Reduction: Based on current pricing, reduce costs by finding efficiencies in sourcing and transportation of inputs.
Systems Optimization
- Establish protocols and platforms for ordering, inventory management, and shipping that are fit-to-context, time-efficient, and ensure accountability.
- Optimize logistics for flow of goods between suppliers, DfG supply hubs, and enterprises.
Organizational Capacity Building
- Build capacity among enterprise leaders, local staff, and HQ staff to assume management and operations of the established systems and platforms.
- Build capacity among local and HQ staff to increase organizational knowledge of regional and national regulations and best practices related to movement of goods
- Expand the DfG network and relationships with officials, suppliers, and shippers in the EAC.
As a consultant to DfGI, this position will report directly to the DfGI Program Manager. This position will also regularly report to and interact with members of the DfGI leadership team including Operations, Finance, Programs, and Development.

- Orientation to DfG products, inputs, product standards, and pricing structure.
- Orientation to current DfG supply chain logistics in EAC.
- Orientation to existing EAC office, hub, and enterprise locations and contexts.
- Create cost-effective, efficient, reliable system to source and distribute high quality inputs that improve price point for DfG products.
- Create inventory management best practices and protocol for EAC Hubs.
- Create ordering and shipping best practices and protocols for DfGI, EAC Hubs, and EAC Enterprises.
- Supply chain map for EAC region.
- 3-5 capacity-building sessions with regional staff.
- 3-5 capacity-building sessions with DfGI Leadership team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma or Bachelor degree in business, supply chain management, logistics management, international business, IT Management, or related field.
- Track record of experience and demonstrated success in supply chain management projects in low-to-middle income contexts.
- Experience in adapting and right-sizing supply chain processes to fit local contexts.
- Experience working cross-sector with NGOs and/or government partners.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work collaboratively, establish and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, driven, and proactive.
- Adaptive and flexible.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Ability to work, manage, and collaborate with others remotely.
- Ability to work inclusively and effectively with people across different cultures, backgrounds, and experience levels.
- Competency in G Suite applications (Gmail, Google Docs), Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Language proficiency in English.

Work Authorization
For this position, the candidate must be authorized to work in Kenya or Uganda as a consultant — local national or work permit — without sponsorship.
