Job Summary: The Manager, Information Architecture will mainly ensure information architecture is strategically managed, implemented and enforced in the organisation, thus supporting the implementation of solutions/controls, so that data is converted into meaningful information that will enable and steer effective decision-making. Work with business and technology teams to create strategic data models and assist in the understanding of the flow of information across the organisation and liaise with technology teams to define the information architecture.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Technology and Architecture:
- Identify user data and information requirements by researching and analysing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods in order to inform an appropriate architectural landscape.
- Plan information architecture by incorporating the data architecture design and provide inputs into the holistic data architecture design in conjunction with required architecture, technology and data teams.
- Operates across the organisation to establish an overall information architecture framework and govern the implementation thereof to ensure a consistent realisation of the business and technology strategies for 3-5 years into the future.
- Asses systems against the information architecture to ensure system and information architecture alignment and integration, liaise with relevant stakeholders should risks or incompatibilities arise.
- Design, implement and continuously update information structure workflows and collaborate with internal technology project stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
- Liaise with and ensure alignment of all information architecture outputs with the organisation’s overarching enterprise architecture.
Client:
- Translate strategic business and functional requirements into usable and enterprise information architecture. Ensure customer experience is incorporated into all enterprise information architecture designs. Engagement with external customers, relevant stakeholders within standard bank and other architects.
Data:
- Determine how data and information is obtained, labelled and categorised through metadata standards whilst ensuring that appropriate metadata standards are utilised and maintained.
- Review data management artefacts and analytic solutions and ensure that such artefacts and solutions are viable both within the holistic Information Architecture in place as well as meet business, technology and user requirements.
- Provide input into the definition of standards, practice and information structure development and oversee data maintenance by unpacking data structures.
- Provide expertise in the comprehensive planning, development and execution for business data solutions. Provide business with valid, well considered insights with regards their Data and Information Management construct.
- Provide input into the design of the data information management lifecycle and manages the data information lifecycle by identifying challenges and bottlenecks and review and amend on a continuous basis.
People:
- Liaise and collaborate with the entire EDO team, providing support to the entire department for its information architecture needs. Collaborate with subject matter experts to select the relevant sources of information and translates the business requirements into information architecture outcomes. Presents findings and observations to team for development of recommendations.
- Act as a subject matter expert from am information architecture perspective and provides input into all decisions relating to data engineering and the use thereof. Educate the organisation on information architecture perspectives on new approaches, such as testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results. Ensure ongoing knowledge of industry standards as well as best practice and identify gaps between these definitions/data elements and company data elements/definitions.
Risk, Regulatory, Prudential and Compliance
- Ensure industry legislative and regulatory knowledge is incorporated into solutions and display a keen understanding of impact and implications to information framework and how they are to be addressed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Manager, Information Architecture job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Information Systems or equivalent in any related field
- 5-7 years of relevant technical IT experience in enterprise / systems architecture; Data Integrity; IT Applications
- IT Applications:
- Knowledge and understanding of IT applications and architecture.
- Knowledge and experience working with and implementing internationally recognised frameworks; such as TOGAF, Zachman etc.
- Proven track record of comprehensive analysis and architectural skills to drive delivery of architectural constructs and artefacts in line with business strategy
