Job Summary:  The Project Coordinator, Innovation in operations and Global Goals – Pulse Lab Kampala will coordinate project implementation for the Mali Project and other related activities. The consultant will maintain a fluent dialogue with the project partners to ensure ownership of the project outputs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Oversee and coordinate project implementation:

  • Define the project work plan (including benchmarks, milestones and timelines) and design work plans for project team members in regard to Big Data Analytics;
  • Lead, manage and coordinate day-to-day planning, implementation and management of project activities according to the Project document and project log frame;
  • Coordinate the project team (technical specialists, project officers, support staff, consultants) and ensure timely implementation, results –orientation and accountability for project results;
  • Support the delivery of quality project outputs through preparation and support of monthly work plans for the teams and daily overseeing of the work of all team members especially those in Radio Mining;
  • Reviewing all deliverables and reports for Radio Mining and Data Analytics to be submitted to UNDP prior to submission and liaise with staff members and consultants to ensure that the quality of the deliverables and reports submitted to UNDP are according to relevant guidelines, TORs and hold the expected standard of quality;
  • Draft Terms of References and management of local and foreign consultants, monitoring progress on deliverables under those contracts and providing feedback as necessary, and coordination of the work of the consultants consistent with the overall project implementation plan.
  • Undertake external high-level communication with UN Global Pulse, donors and stakeholders on project activities, budgets and reporting.
  • Monitor the project’s progress towards the attainment of the project objectives and propose measures to address bottlenecks;
  • Document the technical processes undertaken for the implementation of project components on a monthly and quarterly basis;
  • Capture technical lessons learned during the implementation of project components – lessons learned log can be used in this regard;
  • Manage and monitor the project risks linked to the implementation of project components;
  • Identify project risks and coordinate initiatives to mitigate and manage them.

Provide technical guidance for project implementation:

  • Provide technical guidance of innovation in operations of the Mali Project from the Private Sector to achieve the project outputs;
  • Compile best practices from the private sector and incorporate them into the project work plan.

Key Outputs:

  • Project work plan (including benchmarks, milestones and timelines);
  • Delivery of quality project outputs through preparation and support of monthly work plans for the teams and daily overseeing of the work of all team members;
  • Identifying, managing and monitoring the project risks linked to the implementation of project components;
  • Creating project schedule, with milestones, due dates and estimates for those materials that are required and other resources, such as team members, which will then be submitted to management for approval;
  • Working with the project officer to monitor project funds, ensuring the funds are used for the proper purposes, proper activities and with the efficiency and transparency.
  • Preparing Standard Progress Reports (quarterly and annual).

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the United Nations Project Coordinator, Innovation in operations and Global Goals – Pulse Lab Kampala job placement must hold an advanced university degree (Masters’ degree or above) in Social Sciences, Project Management, Economics, Business Administration, Information Systems, Information technology, Engineering, Data Science or related field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience working with operations with private sector in Uganda or the region;
  • At least two (2) years of working experience with engineering teams;
  • Knowledge of innovations in operations with private sector;
  • Experience working in non-family duty stations.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency of English language is required.
