Job Summary: The Human Resource Department is led by the Human Resources Manager, who manages the Human Resource Officers, Interns, and part time volunteers while functionally supervising the Administrative Assistant / Receptionist on specific HR related tasks. Broadly, the goal of Hydro Concepts Uganda Limited’s HR team is to recruit and retain, on an equitable basis, a vibrant and motivated workforce, with an appropriate skills mix, committed to fulfilling the goals of the company within the wider strategic plan.
The Intern will provide support in planning and development of our HR approaches, policies, and procedures. You will be assigned substantial work assignments by your manager and required to produce high quality deliverables.
This opportunity will help you to gain valuable experience and skills in HR, while being supported by the team. Our Interns are viewed as valued members of the staff team and it is understood that they provide essential input into achieving the goals of the company systems for attracting top talent, staff motivation, career development and talent retention, and establishment of high performance culture.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining HR records (electronic and otherwise)
- Assisting with the production and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Posting jobs, screening resumes and application forms, and scheduling interviews
- Policy development and documentation
- Updating company databases by inputting new employee contact information & employment details.
- Responding to staff inquiries regarding HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related matters
- Review and distribute company policies in digital formats or hard copies
- Assisting departments with their recruitment needs through liaison with agencies/ advertisers
- Aligning with industry best practices, ensure efficient and repeatable processes are in place to manage the day-to-day HR transactions associated with hiring, onboarding, employee changes and off-boarding
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management (Must have graduated by 1st August, 2020)
- Maximum 2 years after graduation
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of HR documents and other personal information
- Proficiency in use of computer applications as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in internet applications as E-mail, Google documents, and Google sheets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Ugandan labor laws
- Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software will be an added advantage
