About US:
International Justice Mission (IJM) is an international human rights organization that works to ensure that all, especially the most vulnerable, have proper and appropriate access to justice. IJM works directly with survivors of violence to offer support and assistance. IJM also works closely with local and national governments, religious and traditional leaders and in particular with the public justice system to support them and build system wide capacity.
Job Summary: As the Coordinator, Security you will work to ensure that all proper measures are taken to keep IJM and its interests safe and secure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Networking & Partnerships
- Work closely and build relationships with UNDSS, UNDP and other UN entities in the areas where IJM are involved in UN projects.
- Work closely and build relationships with police, maintaining existing IJM relationships with police in Uganda fostering police support when necessary.
- Building of collaborative relationships with other organizations security leads and focal points.
Leadership and Management:
- Assist to raise the awareness among the teams on safety / security issues on regular basis
- Be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to support staff in the event of a security incident arising or delegate to qualified on call
o The SFP will at all times be able to account for all IJM staff and Visitors movement on IJM operations and IJM business by:
o Approving daily movement of IJM staff and Visitors
o Maintain a daily movements board that shows details of all IJM vehicle, staff and visitor movement.
o Communicate all daily movement of IJM vehicles, Staff and Visitors to Uganda Security Ops room daily.
o Be able to account for any IJM vehicle, staff or visitor moving around to or from their operational area.
o Maintain a readiness to respond to any incident that involves IJM vehicles, staff or visitors during or out of business hours
- The SSFP will attend security forums meetings in his/her area of operational responsibility or where otherwise directed by the Manager of Security.
Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation:
- Identify threats to the safety and security of IJM assets, staff or clients and develop sound mitigation plans
- Assist to provide security briefings and updates to new hires, visitors and as needed.
- Maintain the documentation and filing of security management (incident reports, trainings, management plans and etc.).
- Conduct Security Risk Assessments when and wherever required.
Policies and Procedures:
- Develop and maintain best practice policies regarding safety standards for the office and the Security Operations Room
Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:
- Document and manage data for all IJM security incident reports.
- Submit weekly security reports to the Manager of Security.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Preferred five years (or more) experience conducting security operations.
- Prior leadership and/or management experiences preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and experience driving manual vehicles in rough terrain.
- Fluency in English and local languages, with excellent writing and speaking in both.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to create and deliver good tactical plans and Mission Briefs
- Mature orthodox Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed.
- Passionate commitment to IJM’s mission and values.
- Professional in demeanor, appearance, writing and oral communication.
- Works well under stress with a sustained positive attitude.
- Exceptionally high level of honesty and integrity.
- Intelligent, organized, creative and proactive problem solver.
- Ability to cooperate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
