Job Summary: The Communications intern will perform a variety of tasks to keep internal operations running smoothly and uphold Justice Defenders ‘s external image by ensuring timely production and publications of Photogenic visuals and regular well written articles and accurate reports regarding JD and other programmatic work in Uganda. The Communications Volunteer will foster and maintain cordial and professional working relationships with key stakeholders, general public and members of the media fraternity so that overall JD work is promoted and appreciated
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To write feature articles, interviews and short blurbs for Justice Defender Newsletter or publication.
- To photograph compelling scenes that best encapsulate the work and ethos of JD.
- To conduct and write up interviews of inmate’s staff, Prison staff, key stakeholders and the public concerning prison issues
- To collect and collate data required to populate monthly reports
- To regularly collect and assess data and analytics across a variety of digital platforms and make recommendations for expanding or improving both public image and online presence.
- Uploading content to various platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, linked or the JD blo
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Justice Defenders Communications Volunteer job must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or Public Relations or Journalism or any other related qualifications from a reputable institution
- At least one year of experience in marketing, public relations or journalism. Experience in digital communications and advertising is desirable.
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft office suite
