TikTok has become one of the most popular social media apps in the world over recent months, with over 250 million users all across the globe. The app is particularly popular among teens and young adults, who use it to share 15 second videos of themselves lip-syncing and dancing along to various pop songs. As a result, you may have friends or family members who are now on TikTok every day and posting new videos every time they go out for a meal or somewhere interesting. If that sounds like someone you know then read on for some advice on how to launch your own account and start going live on TikTok! A lot of people find it intimidating to launch their own social media presence but it’t not as hard as you might think. With a few simple tips and tricks, anyone can get started with creating an account, uploading photos, and adding friends so you can begin posting your own private videos.
Check your device compatibility
First thing’s first, before you do anything else you should check the device compatibility for TikTok on your phone or tablet. TikTok is compatible with any device that can run the iOS or Android operating system and works with both iPhone and Android devices. However, there are certain devices that will provide a better TikTok experience than others. If you have an older model device, you may find that the app is slow and buggy, making it difficult to create and share content with friends. If this sounds like your situation and you haven’t updated your phone in a while, you may want to consider upgrading so you can use the app to its full potential.
Set up your account
Once you have confirmed that you have the correct device for TikTok, you can move on to setting up your account. To do this, first open the app and select “Join TikTok” from the home screen. Once you have swiped through the terms and conditions, you will be brought to the first account creation screen. Here, you will be asked to enter your email address and select a username. You can change your username later if you wish but make sure you select something easy to remember so you don’t forget it! Next, you have to select the privacy setting for your account. You can choose the option to “Keep my account private” if you don’t want people to be able to find you and follow you on TikTok. Alternatively, you can choose to “Make my account public” so anyone can find your account and follow you. Once you have selected your privacy setting, you can move on to the account activation screen.
Create your profile
On the account activation screen, you will be asked to enter your first name, last name, and a short description of yourself. You can also choose to include an image of yourself, a short bio, and a location. The profile details are your first line of defense against curious Internet trolls so make sure you keep it friendly and respectable. If you want to include an image, you can use an image that has already been posted on your Instagram profile so you can share the same image across all your social media accounts. Remember, you can always go back and change your profile details or image at a later stage so don’t worry too much if you make a mistake when first setting up your account. Once you have activated your account, you will be automatically brought to the “Live” tab where you can start creating and sharing content with your followers.

Add friends and sync your TikTok account with Instagram
Before you begin posting content on TikTok, you may want to add friends so you can follow and be followed by people you know. You can do this by selecting the “Friends” tab and adding friends one by one. If you have a large Instagram following, you may also want to consider syncing your TikTok account with your Instagram account so you can follow all of your Instagram followers on TikTok. This will allow you to grow your TikTok following quickly and easily so you can start sharing content with a wider audience. If you choose to sync your accounts, you can do this by opening your TikTok account and tapping on “Settings”. From here, select “Social” and then select “Add Account” followed by “Instagram”. You will be taken to your Instagram profile where you can select which account you would like to link to TikTok.
Going live on TikTok
Once you have created your account, added friends, and synced your TikTok account with Instagram, you can begin going live on TikTok. To do this, open the “Live” menu and select the “Go Live” option. This will open up a new page where you can select the privacy setting for your live broadcast and add a title. You can also select who you would like to invite to watch your live broadcast by tapping the “Invite Friends” button. Once you are ready to go live, you can select “Go Live” and start broadcasting to your followers. TikTok has a variety of different filters and camera effects you can use during your live broadcast and you can also invite your friends to join your live broadcast so you can interact with each other during your broadcast.
That’s it! If you follow these simple steps, you can launch your own TikTok account and start going live on TikTok with ease. Remember, TikTok is a fun and quirky app that allows you to be silly and creative with your content, so don’t be afraid to experiment with new ideas and different types of videos. You can use TikTok to learn new dancing and singing techniques, collaborate with friends and family members, or simply use it as a creative outlet so you can let your creative juices flow.
