ACF implements innovative and life-saving programs in the sectors of Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL), and Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) through capacity building projects in collaboration with government structures. Over the past 30 years of ACF has been delivering robust operations in Uganda and has gained significant knowledge and expertise using a multi-sectoral approach to design and implement program intervention based on the context, geared towards long-term solutions to hunger both in refugee and Host communities. Since 2013, the organization has been worked in the refugee settlements of Northern and Western Uganda providing emergency response as well as long-term development interventions.
Job Summary: The Community Based Facilitator (CBF) – Nutrition is responsible for mapping, verification and linkage of programme beneficiaries (FFV), facilitation of household action planning with FFV beneficiaries, programme monitoring, sensitize community about FFV activities, monitor beneficiary knowledge and skills uptake and replication, report implementation challenges, successes, lessons learned, implement agreed actions with beneficiaries and ensure uptake and use of knowledge and skills by the beneficiaries. The role has a strong focus on ensuring an impactful approach to realize the project goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Programme Implementation (70%)
- Personally & actively mobilize and sensitize FFV beneficiaries and vendors at community level to understand the program activities and their entitlements.
- Personally ensure that beneficiaries and vendors are properly trained and prepared for taking over the output from the programme implementation;
- Personally & actively participate in setup of individual & community vegetable gardens in the areas of operation.
- Personally & actively conduct household targeting for programme participation, according to established criteria and protocols;
- Actively lead the community identification and process of mobilization for programme activities;
- Contribute to the translation of training materials of the programmes from English to Kiswahili, Kigegere and Kinyabwisha/Kinyarwanda for ease of communication at the community level.
- Identify household Nutrition related challenges and potential solutions appropriate to the programme;
- Propose new directions for future activities and programmes; contribute to formulating programme reports and proposals;
- Explain programme objectives and activities to stakeholders and participants (LC II, LCI, Refugee Cluster Leaders);
- Discuss program progress on a regular basis, set by APM, with communities at the field and report accordingly.
Effective Monitoring and Evaluation (25%)
- Participate in surveys, assessments to continually identify nutrition gaps and needs in the district.
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites and update the CNO with the progress of project activities in the field
- Prepare regular and comprehensive project progressive monthly and weekly reports.
- Participate in Programme evaluation
- Ensure that all the partners contracted by ACF, render quality service to the clienteles/beneficiaries as per the terms spelt out in the contractual agreements and give feed back to the Community Nutrition Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Diploma in Environmental health sciences, Nutrition, Public health, social sciences or any related field.
- At least two years’ experience working with health and nutrition projects, community SBCC, and cash-based interventions.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of Nutrition, WASH and food security and livelihoods technical and theoretical concepts Excellent communication skills and ability to write good reports
- Previous experience with other local and international NGOs
- Previous work in a refugee setting is desirable.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
- Extremely flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
- Culturally sensitive
- Knowledge of the local language (N’gakaramojong) is a MUST
- Ability and willingness to ride a motor/bicycle, and possession of a valid riding permit is an added advantage
- Fluency in written and spoken English
