Job Summary:

AWE is currently seeking an experienced Environmentalist to join our team of established specialists. The successful candidate must possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience and recognized expertise in consultancy works.

As an Environmentalist, you will engage in projects and relevant company work, focusing on Environment and Socio-economic Impact Assessments (ESIAS), Environmental Audits, OHS audits, air pollution control, waste management, hazardous-waste management, environmental regulations and policy formulations and reviews, environmental and social safeguards supervision, stakeholder engagement, community mobilizations, and Construction supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with a team of specialists.
  • Contribute to business growth strategies and initiatives.
  • Consolidate AWE’s environmental and social expertise.
  • Manage projects and resources efficiently, meeting agreed time-scales and budgets.
  • Design ESIA studies and develop study tools.
  • Participate in business development through technical and financial proposal compilation.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, audits, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Assess compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with environmental planners, engineers, scientists, and other specialists.
  • Engage in environmental monitoring assignments.
  • Compile or review reports as per consulting assignment requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering/Environmental Science and Management from a reputable University, with at least a second-class upper. A master’s degree in a related field and NEMA registration are advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO document and Management Systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret work-related documents.
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good planning and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary setting.
  • Deadline-driven and willingness to learn and contribute as a team player.
