They are recruiting for their client, an integrated professional consultancy specializing in valuation surveying, cost & project management, and environmental management.
Job Summary: The Accountant will complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. The incumbent will also highlight the day-to-day management of all payment cycle activities in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information
- Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
- Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
- Maintaining historical records
- Paying employees by verifying expense reports and preparing pay checks
- Paying vendors by scheduling pay checks and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit
- Generally responding to all vendor enquiries regarding finance
- Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
- Continuing to improve the payment process
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information
- Preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
- Secures financial information by completing data base backups
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
- Perform other duties as required by the employer from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience in a commercial environment and/or the government sector.
- Three years’ experience as an Accountant or Accounts Payable
- Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
- Corporate Finance
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user (Quickbooks) and administration skills
- Good reporting skills
- Deadline-Oriented
- General Math Skills and aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Problem Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
