AIMS offers vocational training to out of school youth (Grade 10 & 12 School leavers) In the following disciplines:
International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL)
ICDL is the world’s leading computer skills certification. To date more than 15 million people have engaged with the ICDL programme, in over 100 countries, through our network of over 24,000 ICDL Accredited Test Centers (ATCs).
The ICDL programme defines the skills and competencies necessary to use a computer and common computer applications. It offers a wide range of modules including Computer Essentials, Word Processing and IT Security. Candidates take tests in the modules which are most relevant to their educational and professional requirements, thereby creating their ICDL Profile.
Modules

Computer Essentials | Skills and concepts relating to the use of devices, file creation and management, networks and data security. |
Word Processing | Skills to accomplish everyday tasks associated with creating, formatting and finishing word processing documents, such as letters, CVs, and other documents. |
Spreadsheets | Skills to perform tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying and using a spreadsheet, to use standard formulas and functions, and to competently create and format graphs or charts. |
Presentation | Create professional standard presentations. Perform tasks such as creating, formatting, modifying and preparing presentations using different slide layouts for display and printed distribution. |
Using Databases | Use a desktop database effectively. Understand the main concepts of databases and demonstrate the ability to use a database application: creating and modifying tables, queries, forms and reports, and preparing outputs ready for distribution. Learning to relate tables and to retrieve and manipulate. |
Online Essentials | Skills and concepts relating to web browsing, effective information search, online communication and e-mail. |
ICDL programmes are for anyone who wishes to become fully competent in the use of a computer and common applications. Computer skills enable people of all ages to understand and use technology to improve their personal and professional lives. ICDL modules provide a practical programme of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas which are validated by a test.

National Vocational Certificate in Automotive Mechanic Level 1-4
This qualification recognizes people who have the competencies required for performing basic automotive mechanics tasks. It is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to apply safety rules and regulations; use basic metal processing tools; apply basic metal joining techniques; apply knowledge of basic components of an automobile; apply automotive mechanics service tools and equipment; clean and finish the interior, exterior and components of an automobile; plan, organize and complete work in an automotive mechanics environment; apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in the workplace; and demonstrate knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
This qualification is designed to be accessible and flexible. There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
The main focus is on the outcomes of this qualification, not the how, when and where learning occurred. Some people applying to do this qualification may currently be competent in one or more of the unit standards and should then be given the opportunity to apply for recognition of prior learning.

National Vocational Certificate in Bricklaying & Plastering Level 1-4
This qualification recognizes people who have the competencies required for performing basic bricklaying tasks. It is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to perform basic bricklaying tasks, including manufacturing bricks, using bricklaying hand tools and work in a bricklaying team; apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in the workplace; and demonstrate knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
This qualification is designed to be accessible and flexible. There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

National Vocational Certificate in Construction Engineering :Plumbing Level 1-4
This qualification recognizes people who have the competencies required for performing basic plumbing tasks. It is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to apply safety rules and regulations; use and maintain hand tools; handle and store plumbing materials; read and produce basic sketches and drawings; carry out basic excavation; perform basic estimations, measurements and calculations; plan and organize plumbing work; perform soft soldering; perform basic sheet metal work ; work safely on scaffolding, work platforms and ladders; perform basic pipe-work; carry out maintenance of domestic plumbing installations; apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in the workplace; and demonstrate knowledge of HIV and AIDS. This qualification is designed to be accessible and flexible. There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

National Vocational Certificate in Office Administration Level 1-2
This qualification recognizes people who have the competencies required for performing basic office administration tasks. It is awarded to people who have demonstrated the skills and knowledge required to perform basic office administration tasks, perform basic computer operations in an office environment; apply fundamental communication and numeracy competencies in performing office administration duties; and demonstrate knowledge of HIV and AIDS.
