About us:
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is a corporate body responsible for regulation of civil aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport (EIA) and thirteen (13) other upcountry aerodromes. UCAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs)
Job Summary: The position exists to provide an Information Technology platform for CAA through writing, developing and customizing lT programmes that result in operational efficiencies and effectiveness thereby contributing towards the attainment of CAA’s objectives and mandate..
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
I.T Management Processes
- Develops and documents IT programmes and solutions in suppon of the business
- Customizes programmes to suit CAA needs and conditions.
- Verifies all specifications for new programmes and makes input before they are purchased.
- Verifies for consistence and relevance to CAA requirements.
- Understands the business to ensure providing relevant and adequate lT programmes.
- Ensures that the internal users of the lT solutions are trained and developedlto take advantage of the full lT solutions.
- Provides back up maintenance and support of all programmes.
- Ensures security of all CAA programmes.
- Scans the technological horizon and networks with other Civil Aviation IT Officers as well as lT industry as a whole to ensure IT programmes at CAA are in line with world trends.
- Participates in lCT Innovation activities within the IT Department.
Customer Satisfaction
- Understands the needs of the departments and offers IT solutions to resolve these needs
- Reviews the customers‘ needs and integrates the needs with best practice develops programmes for them
- Ensures that upgrades are effected timely to enhance effectiveness of programmes
- Carries out any other lawful assignment allocated by the immediate supervisor and/or Management.
- The Job holder is cooperative and readily responds to any ad hoc tasks assigned to him
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelors‘ degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or Physics
- At least 3 years’ relevant work experience
