The Austrian Red Cross is the national Red Cross Organization in Austria and is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It was established on March 14, 1880 by Doctor Adam Lichtenheld of the Vienna General Hospital and is the biggest aid agency in the country.
Job Summary: The Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is looking for an experienced and highly motivated WASH Delegate for Uganda. The purpose is to continue an emergency WASH capacity training project with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan procurement, training schedule, trainers and training material in close cooperation with the URCS WASH Coordinator and implementing branches
- Fulfill self-responsible all reporting requirements
- Organise, coordinate and hold specialized trainings together with URCS Staff and volunteers
- Advise and select appropriate training methods and materials in cooperation with URCS
- Plan and select necessary training HR (national and international) and ensure competencies
- Plan pre-crisis-market assessment in close cooperation with AutRC WASH advisor
- Establish monitoring plan to measure capacity building efforts and operational preparedness of participating Red Cross branches
- Coordination with project partners especially with lead partner Netherlands Red Cross
- Ensure financial regulations of donors (aligned with URCS) are adhered to
- Ensure proper handover to next training delegate(s) and AutRC country team
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Experience in emergency WASH missions within the Red Cross Movement; experience in RC ERU missions is a strong asset
- Experience in batch water treatment and in other relevant emergency WASH sectors, experience with solar power supply is a strong asset
- Experience in planning and conducting trainings
- Technical knowledge in Faecal sludge management is a strong asset
- Work experience in Eastern Africa, especially Uganda, is a strong asset
- Ability to self-responsible narrative and financial reporting to fulfill back donor requirements
- Very good English skills, German as well as languages spoken in Eastern Africa are an asset
- Experience to work under pressure and to lead a multicultural team
- Strongly motivated by humanitarian and development work, and high sensitivity to diversity
