To enable a trainee acquire knowledge and skills in science and technology aimed at producing a competent graduate who contributes towards individual and national development in a changing world of work.

History

This college is one of the oldest technical institutions having started in 1945 as center for artisan training the world war veterans.

There after primary school leavers were being trained and awarded the Uganda junior technical certificate.

In 1972 it became a technical institution admitting �0� level leavers for training in craft certificate courses in

  • carpentry and joinery (CJ),
  • brick laying and concreting practice(BCP),
  • painting and decorating (PD),
  • electrical installation(EI),and
  • mortar vehicle technician (MVT).

It operated as a technical institution up to 1984 when it started admitting �A� leavers for diploma programs.

The diploma programmes included:

  • Building and civil engineering (ODB&CE),
  • Water engineering (ODWE),
  • Architecture Draughtsman ship (ODD),
  • Electrical engineering (ODEE),
  • Mechanical engineering (ODME).

The ministry of education and sports instituted the revision of curriculum for diploma in engineering programs to change from theoretical training to competence based practical curriculum with effect from 2011/12 academic year and it is being examined by Uganda business and technical examination board
