About US:
The government of Uganda in partnership the Global Fund, PMI/ USAID, Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) and other implementing partners plans to conduct its third Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets Mass Campaign for Universal Coverage (LLINs UCC) in 2020. Approximately 27m Mosquito nets will be distributed country wide. The Campaign is human resource intensive and therefore require additional support to the already existing staff to avoid compromising other routine program activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in the development of a realistic, innovative and effective strategy towards promotion of LLIN utilization at the community level and national level
- Identify gaps in BCC for promoting utilization LLIN at the household and community level
- Develop an action plan for implementation of BCC at the post distribution phase of the campaign.
- Support in the coordination of the implementation of BCC activities during the entire LLIN campaign
- Support the BCC Specialist to design campaign messages and IEC materials
- Assist in the coordination, management and monitor broadcast of interactive radio programs in during the campaign
- Participate in the development, pre-testing and dissemination of IEC materials.
- Manage translation and “checking” of IEC materials promoting LLIN registration, distribution and utilization
- Organize and document dissemination of all IEC materials
- Work with district teams (DHTs) to design, organize & monitor community events aimed at LLIN utilization
- Prepare BCC activity reports monthly and quarterly
- Assist in the coordination of the LLIN Documentary showing all activities, success stories and lessons learnt
- Support the coordination of national, regional and district Advocacy meetings
- Participate in training of health workers, village health teams and other community based volunteers.
- Undertake other assignment as requested by management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Community Health, Social Sciences, Education or related field.
- A post graduate training in related fields is an added advantage.
- A minimum of three years’ experience designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour change communication interventions.
- The candidate must have participated in any of the past LLIN campaign doing SBCC related work.
- The Candidate must demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non-governmental and community based organizations as well as government departments.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal communication, supervision and management skills
- Excellent presentation and writing skills.
- Computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is an added advantage
