Uganda Development Bank Ltd (UDBL) is the country’s only DevelopmentFinance Institution (DFI) established in 1972. The Bank has recently re-positioned itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the theme of its National Development Plan.
Job Summary: The Business Development Officer Projects is responsible for attracting and developing investment opportunities, undertaking appraisal analysis, advising management on investment opportunities, coordinating the implementation of investment decisions, portfolio management and collections to achieve the Bank’s development mandate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Source for new projects for funding
- The jobholder will design new products and innovations that are viable, practical, relevant and that address the needs of clients;
- Carry out investment analysis and appraisals of proposals submitted to the Bank and make recommendations to line management for consideration
- Undertake analysis of projects under implementation and the existing portfolio to identify and manage investment risks.
- Coordinate the implementation of investments, monitor the performance of projects, and ensure efficient collections
- Conduct continuous research and provide recommendations on significant market developments, emerging opportunities and challenges & risks.
- Manage communication and relations with the Bank’s clients
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Business Development Officer Projects should preferably hold a good degree in a business related field, Engineering or any other numerate degree from a recognized university.
- Possession of relevant Post graduate degree such as an MBA or Masters in Finance.
- At least five years of similar or relevant experience in a large financial institution or development bank, preferably engaged in long term funding or project financing; of which three (3) should be at middle management level.
- Highly analytical and financial analysis skills and experience in using financial models.
- Previous experience in agriculture/group financing is an added advantage.
- Excellent track record and experience in successful investment, appraisal, analysis and implementation is required.
- Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and work as team to meet strict timelines.
- Self-motivated, flexible, mature and articulate in speech and presentation.
- Possess excellent analytical skills, problem identification and solving skills.
- Highly innovative.
- Business acumen with proven successful projects.
- Must demonstrate Tact and good networking skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to interact with and influence high level decision makers.
- Customer service orientation.
- Results-orientation
