InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management and Governance systems.
Job Summary: The Reproductive Health Nurse will provide support to the Community Health Officer and ensure that the health status of the population is improved through provision of better health services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Direction: Implementing scheduled and planned activities to ensure targets are met in line with the departmental plan.
Stakeholder management
- Conduct field visits to hospitals, Health Centers, homesand communities for sensitization, counseling, follow-up and assessments.
- Liaising with service providers in line with Health care support to our persons of concern.
Process Management:
- Screening new arrivals and self-settled refugees to establish if they have emergency medical problem.
- Liaising with HIV counselors on medical support for such cases.
- Working with the Community Health Officer to supply drugs, sundries and medical equipment required for running the clinic is continuous and on time.
- Maintaining of records such as Drug stock cards, Daily consumption cards, Treatment records, Referral records, Equipment register, Monthly drug consumption reports, Health unit reports, Medical counseling records on individual files and Birth and death records.
- Assisting the Community Health Officer in organizing appropriate preventive health care services that promote the health of both the refugee and asylum seeker population.
- Responding to emergency medical cases both at the office and refuge communities.
- Transporting of patients to hospitals
- Ensure timely issuance of prescribed drugs to patients
- Arranging appointment for the doctor to make medical assessment reports for refugees and asylum seekers.
- Assisting the Community Health Officer in conducting health talks, dialogues and medical camps for refugees/asylum seekers and the Host community on preventive reproductive health care.
- Providing medical counseling on health issues to refugees/asylum seekers.
- Tasked with requisitioning for medical investigations for patients and subsistence for admitted cases.
- Carrying out hospital visits and follow up on both out patients and admitted cases and give update reports.
- Assisting Community Health Officer Compile Timely weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual medical reports.
- Screening, educating and following up expectant mothers to attend antenatal care, have safe delivery and attend postnatal care from recognized health institutions.
- Compiling a Maternal Audit for all expectant Mothers.
- Following up on EMTCT mothers.
- Screening and educating all children and communities on malnutrition.
Risk Management: Identifying, assessing and developing strategies to mitigate against risks that may happen in the health section.
Compliance
- Ensure that the internal process and work plans are adhered to.
- Ensure compliance to policies and procedures during designing, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the program activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) Reproductive Health Nurse job opportunity should preferably hold a Diploma in Nursing and midwifery.
- Should be a registered nurse with Uganda Nursing council.
- At least two years of relevant experience in a busy environment.
- Excellent planning and organization skills.
- People centered.

- Excellent communication skills both oral and written communication.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, MS EXCEL, MS Power point and MS Project.
