Finance and Administration Manager Employment Opportunity – Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is offering an excellent career opportunity for a qualified individual to join their team as a Finance and Administration Manager. This role is based in Kampala, Uganda, and reports to the Deputy Executive Director of Management and Financial Services.
About UNBS: UNBS is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives. It plays a crucial role in standardization, quality assurance, metrology, and laboratory testing. The organization aims to facilitate fair trade, promote local industries, and protect consumers.
Job Summary: As the Finance and Administration Manager, your primary responsibility will be to develop policies and procedures and maintain systems for the management of financial and physical resources in accordance with UNBS’s financial and asset management regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and guidelines for managing financial and physical assets of the Bureau.
- Develop and oversee policies and guidelines for managing the Bureau’s administration services, both at headquarters and regional offices.
- Coordinate and develop guidelines for managing UNBS security.
- Oversee the department’s budgeting process and the development of financial statements, management reports, and accountability reports.
- Authorize and verify expenditures and procurement requisitions/payments as per existing procedures.
- Coordinate, monitor, and assess the performance of the department’s staff.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- A Master’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university/institution.
- An Honours degree in a related field.
- Professional Qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or similar, recognized by ICPAU.
- Active membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
- Possession of CFA is an added advantage.
- At least 9 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
- Proficiency in ICT (MS Office, internet applications, etc.).
- Demonstrable capacity for financial analysis and strategy development.
- High ethical standards and professionalism.
- Age: Between 35 – 50 years old.
