The United States Embassy in Kampala, Uganda has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Uganda for over 30 years. Ambassador Deborah R. Malac currently heads the U.S Mission to Uganda. The Mission is composed of several offices and organizations all working under the auspices of the Embassy and at the direction of the Ambassador.
Among the offices operating under the U.S Mission to Uganda are:

- Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
- Peace Corps
Job Summary: The Purchasing Clerk serves as Locally Employed (LE) Staff Procurement Clerk for the U.S. Mission in Uganda, which includes a chancery, New Office Building (NOB) and New Office Annex (NOX), large warehouse complex, 113 owned or leased residences, USAID, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DOD) and other government agencies. Provides a variety of supplies and services in support of 30 agencies utilizing contracts, purchase orders, purchase card, blanket purchase agreement, and against existing General Services Administration (GSA), Department of State or other U.S. Government (USG) contracts. This includes gathering market research and supporting the procurement agents in acquisition of locally sourced requirements and hard to find items. This includes utilizing Ariba to prepare documents and purchase orders, dispatching the same to vendors and tracking of these orders to ensure delivery and eventual payment and closure of the file.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- The applicants for the United States US Embassy Purchasing Clerk job opportunity should have completed secondary school
- At least two years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply management, or clerical work is required.
- Grasp U.S. Government regulations and their application to specific situations, in-depth use of catalogs and equipment indexes is required.
- Knowledge of host government local market practices and suppliers. Familiarity with local and international sources of supply and procurement procedures is required.
- Good organizational skills, sense of priorities, ability to understand and process various types of USG documents, computer skills in various programs. This may be tested.
- Language: English level III (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required. This may be tested.
