Job Summary: The Early Childhood Development Assistant will be field based and conducts supervision of ECD caregivers and implementation of Early Childhood Development activities within the integrated child friendly spaces.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technically build the capacity of ECD and CFS caregivers on the implementation of ECD using the ECD learning framework.
- Regular updates and monitoring of the CFS/ECD to ensure technical support is given in regard to play equipment and materials as per the global minimum standards.
- Motivate and ensure teamwork among ECD caregivers for a greater ministry impact, in the community.
- Support community based child protection and ECD engagements with children and families.
- Support caregivers in the implementation of key family care practices to improve the wellbeing of children and families.
- Manage visitors including donors, support office staff, national office staff, and key district and government stakeholders partnering in the implementation of multi-purpose child friendly spaces integrated with ECDs.
- Work with families, including foster families to design and deliver community led support for children both in the community and at the integrated ECD centres.
- Provide information including reports, to facilitate quality implementation, monitoring and feedback
- Mobilize children and communities to implement a contextualized child friendly feedback mechanism.
- Facilitate case management, and data collection in line with the required and approved standards at the integrated ECD centres.
- Collect and compile statistical data and information regarding ECD children, caregivers, community members participating in project related activities
- Ensure ECD implementation as per the minimum standards in education in emergencies
- Facilitate the community to establish systems aimed at strengthening their capacity in responding to violence against children.
- Support communities and ECD caregivers to identify children with disabilities and model families for project implementation.
- Develop monthly, quarterly and annual project management reports and submit them to the Child protection Facilitator
- Develop tools to manage data and information collection and analysis in establishing and maintaining a Monitoring and Evaluation adherences.
- Document impact and success stories evidenced with quality pictures to share milestone with staff, partners and donors.
- Represent the organization in settlement sector meetings and cluster coordination meetings giving updates and progress of implementation and establish strategic partnerships with other organizations.
- Establish and liaise closely with other partners, agencies and local leaders regarding project activities to ensure a coordinated approach to project implementation, including participation in relevant workshops, meetings and keep the coordinator informed
- Tasked with the preparation of payment, advance and purchase requests for appropriate project transactions in line with approved documents.
- File all accountability and attendance lists in line with audit requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the World Vision Early Childhood Development Assistant job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education or related field.
- One year of experience in working with refugees in basic education.
- Must be ready to work in a multi-cultural environment and have the ability to maintain performance expectations in the diverse cultural context, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
- Knowledge of implementation on child friendly spaces, peace building, education in emergencies and psychosocial care.
- Appropriate communication skill and approachable
- Must have no history of violation of rights of children.
- Keen interest and enthusiasm in working for and with children.
- Past exposure and experience with integration / mainstreaming of child protection, case management, unaccompanied and separated children.
- Past experience in working with refugee communities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of humanitarian industry including sphere standards, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter.
- Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs, to develop and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context.
- Be emotionally mature with physical stamina.
