Job Summary:  The Human Resource (HR) / Administration Officer will provide HR and admin support to assist the  day-to-day functioning and well being of the Samaritan’s Purse country office in Kampala.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain up-to-date personnel files and human resource records.
  • Work with hiring managers to support the recruitment of new staff, including preparation of internal/external documents, interviewing, reference checks and contract preparation.
  • Support monthly payroll processing, including generation of monthly pay slips.
  • Serve as point person for issues pertaining to staff insurance and benefits.
  • Ensure utility bills, phone bills and rents are paid on time.
  • Maintain adequate stock of stationary, cleaning supplies and other general office supplies.
  • Coordinate hosting of international visitors.
  • Line manage Office Caretaker to ensure interior and exterior spaces are kept in good order.
  • Work with service providers to ensure high standards of service delivery (e.g. security, phone).
  • Maintain proper filing of all Admin related documents, reports and contacts.
  • Conduct all activities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, in line with Samaritan’s Purse, Government of Uganda and donor policies and best practices.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Administration, or other related discipline.
  •  At least two (2) years’ experience in similar role, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Full, clean, valid Ugandan driving license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Proactive, resourceful and results-oriented; good problem solver and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Commitment to excellence, integrity and stewardship of resources.
  • Must agree with and uphold the values and objectives of the organization.
