Job Summary:  The MI Analyst has the responsibility of providing daily accurate information on business direction through planning and driving MI processes interpretation of business performance data both financial and non-financial for Retail and Business Banking and continually reviews and analyze operational cost efficiencies. This requires the role holder to have regular contact with other Consumer and Finance teams the purpose of the role also includes:

  • Develop and Monitor MI in Retail and Business Banking.
  • Collect and submit key KPI for Retail and Business Banking to Barclays Uganda.
  • Coordinate communication cascades and escalate feedback to the Head of Products
  • Innovate MI through usage of available tools
  • Prepare performance review packs and make presentations to relevant users of MI
  • Convene stakeholder meetings to ventilate emerging MI
  • Review, Refresh or Re-engineer  Analytics outputs in a constantly changing MI environment and identify areas where improvements are needed
  • Design performance dashboards and automate them for seamless reporting

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Management Information Development: 40%

  • Assist in the development and Implementation of the Retail and Business Banking performance Management process, working with the Head of Products and unit managers to translate/relate business objectives into role specific performance plans for our people.
  • Support the Head of Products to ensure that monitoring tools developed are applied and effectiveness of training and other ‘people development’ activities are properly monitored.
  • Embed the importance of data integrity.
  • Analyse MI for Retail and Business Banking and Provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify and evaluate improvements in performance and present in a compelling and coherent manner.
  • Provide Business intelligence information and recommendation to Head of Products.

Driving Business Performance: 30%

  • Champion initiatives across Retail and Business Banking via relevant MI generation.
  • Planning, organising and controlling the MI reporting framework.
  • Improving information content
  • Balanced scorecard.

People and Team Work : 20%

  • Work closely with the analytics team to deliver exceptional business performance through the provision of first class MI and business improvement initiatives.
  • Share best practise with, and provide feedback to, other members of the Analytics team on all business and people related issues, climate and local development and initiatives.
  • Build effective relationships, influence and motivate team leaders to ensure their wholehearted commitment to effective application of performance management

Self Development: 10%

  • Pursue self development to increase personal effectiveness, acknowledging strengths and areas for development.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Barclays Bank MI Analyst should hold relevant qualifications
  • Excellent programming and system modelling skills; data modelling, structured analysis, object oriented analysis, programming tools: Visual Basic , web programming: HTML, XML, XSLT, PHP, AJAX etc
  • Excellent skills on data mining, relation database management systems and programming language:
  • Querying tools: SQL and its variants like MySQL, MSSQL, M-Access, Teradata, Hadoop and Postgrel
  • Ability to efficiently play and manoeuvre with large sums of data to accurately derive intended results
  • Database administration and development skills
  • Excellent experience in Microsoft office applications- Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.
  • Good reporting and presentation skills using Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau and Publisher
  • Excellent business analytical skills for performance measurement and reporting.
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Team work
