Job Summary: The Head of Finance will be responsible for BSU accounts and the management and monitoring of all financial activity. including financial analysis when required by the General Secretary. The Head of Finance will also oversee the management of projects income, expenditure and scripture distributions
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a compliance culture with financial laws and guidelines.
- Oversee the financial strategic planning oi the Bible Society of Uganda (BSU) by evaluating its performance and potential risks on a regular
- Monitor patterns in BSU spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to problem areas.
- Coordinate with external financial stakeholders on behalf of the BSU.
- Perform regular financial analysis.
- Develop budgets that meet the requirements of BSU departments.
- Establish targets and manage all accounting and finance staff.
- Supervise and follow up all audit and internal control processes.
- Produce detailed reports on the BSU‘s financial performance.
- Produce regular financial reports, lead month-end closing process and conduct monthly financial forecast.
- Develop and implement plans for budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
- Understand and calculate risks involved in the financial activities of BSU
- Plan, organize and execute financial tasks and projects of the organization.
- Make estimates of funds required for short and long-term financial objectives of the BSU
- Prudently make investments on assets that maximize returns.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to drive the business performance of BSU.
- Manage and monitor metrics, KPl tracking and reports.
- Evaluate financial performance of BSU .
- Able to evidence strong organizational and leadership skills to coach and provide guidance to finance staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Degree in Finance/Accounting or related (essential). A relevant MBA is a good additional requirement.
- International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) accreditation (essential).
- Candidates for this position must have professional qualifications such as ACCA/ClMA/CPA with demonstrable professional experience in a financial managerial position, including experience in managing multiple donor grants.
- At least six years of work experience as a Finance Manager (essential) from a reputable organization.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- in-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principals, and financial analysis.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Keen attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP and other financial planning software.
