Job Summary: The Head of Teacher Development will be responsible for creating premium teaching opportunities and experiences for our teachers; developing a program that attracts and retains the best teachers that Uganda has to offer. The incumbent will be employing the expertise of COF Education Personnel, Ministry Professional Development offerings, and securing the best training providers in Uganda, the HTD will lead our teachers into new and exciting learning and teaching pedagogy. The jobholder will also use SUITS to provide a challenging, innovative opportunity for the HTD to support empowerment of teachers around decisions relating to their professional, personal, social and financial development. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with PoP, and the Education Specialist set up and functioning of an elite Teacher Mentoring project designed to inspire and elevate expectations and performance in our most gifted teachers.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree qualification in Education. Possession of a Master’s degree is an added advantage
  • Proven experience of relationship building in an Educational Environment
  • Detailed and accurate reporting of performance and achievement
  • Designing and implementing programs and schedules
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Skilled in teacher development programs
  • Diverse knowledge in education programming
  • Excellent written English and computer skills
  • Dealings with high profile personnel
  • Excellent knowledge of teachers development programming in the rural areas of Uganda
  • Good interpersonal skills, high level of integrity and good moral conduct
  • Good conceptual and analytical skills
  • Self-directed and capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines for proposal development / reporting
  • Exhibit commitment to Cotton On Foundation’s cause and values
  • An open personality and acceptance of all races, creeds and cultures
  • Licensed, and willing, to travel by motor bike
