The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Uganda’s apex body for the private sector is collaborating with the MasterCard Foundation (MCF) to co-implement Young Africa Works in Uganda – Enhancing Lead Firm Structure for Youth Employment Program. The Intervention’s ultimate goal is to create dignified and fulfilling work for young women and men and contribute to the effort to lifting Ugandans out of poverty. The intervention focuses on creating, maintaining and sustaining growth in job markets through strengthening the capacity of actors to efficiently produce and sell their goods and services in expanded markets, developing new diversified financing mechanisms as well as growing the capacity of business leaders and their support service providers to manage and expand their enterprises. This transformative intervention will also transition Micro Enterprises to Small Enterprises.
Job Summary: The Investment Specialist/Construction (IS/Construction) will head the division within the Project Management Unit responsible for promoting the development and operation of the Lead Firm Structure in the Construction sector. The IS/Construction will provide required technical expertise to support, coordinate and implement activities relating to the development and operations of the LFS in the Construction sector. He/she will be an integral member of the project management team. The IS/Construction will report to and be guided and supported by the Project Director.
The IS/Construction has the responsibility to take the lead in designing strategies and implementing actions that the construction sector actors, MSMEs and Lead Firm(s) have to undertake to overcome challenges in order to take advantage of opportunities in the sector.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate must hold a bachelor’s level degree or higher in engineering, architecture, building economics, business management/ administration, engineering, development economics, project management, or related field;
- At least 5 years’ working experience in business development or similar roles in a large reputable organisation in the construction value chain or in implementing infrastructure or construction projects or infrastructure transaction advisory services. Demonstrated experience in BDS facilitation to beneficiaries is an added advantage.
- The applicants should be passionate young professional Ugandans with strong understanding of the private sector issues (national, regional and global)
