Key roles and responsibilities
• Overall coordination of the day-to-day activities of the PERSUADE project
• Implement and monitor the project work plan in liaison with the project Secretariat
• Provide support and coordinate activities in partner countries to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance to agreed work plans
• Support efforts within partner countries that enhance analytic capacity and data use in the three disease areas (TB, HIV, and malaria)
• Support country teams in implementation of stakeholder engagements to create a close working relationship with their Ministries of Health and relevant partner organizations
• Periodically work with country Team leads to identify challenges and propose strategies to address them
• Work with country Team leads to ensure timely and quality preparation and submission of both progress and analytical output reports to the Secretariat
• Develop consolidated progress narrative reports in accordance with project and Global Fund requirements
• Take lead in organization of progress review meetings and discussions to provide feedback to partners to the Global Fund
• Communicate in line with agreed regional and country communication strategy to ensure effective communications and decision making between the Secretariat, regional, and the country teams
• Act as the Secretariat point of contact and provide information and updates in liaison with the Principal Investigator and the project Secretariat
• Manage, coordinate and contribute to peer-learning and knowledge exchange platforms for the partnership
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned, from time to time, by the Principal Investigator Qualifications and Desirable Qualities
▪ Suitable applicants MUST possess a Masters in Public Health/ Biostatistics/ Health services research/ Monitoring and Evaluation or related health fields. In addition, he/she should possess a relevant first degree such as Bachelors in Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery, Statistics or any other health related field.
▪ At least five years of experience in coordination of donor-funded research/project or health related projects or programs that are multi-country/multi-cultural in nature.
▪ Experience in working in programing in HIV, TB and malaria is essential
▪ Experience in working with international partners is an added advantage
▪ In addition, the applicant MUST be familiar with computer-based data analysis using quantitative data analysis packages such as EpiInfo, SPSS, STATA or SAS;
▪ Applicants should have demonstrated experience with managing data, information, and monitoring and evaluation of health programs at sub-national and national levels.
▪ Diplomacy, initiative, ability to work independently, strong communication and ability to work with multi-cultural teams as well as meeting deadlines are necessary qualities.
▪ Ability to speak French and/or Portuguese is an added advantage. Duration: The position is renewable on annual basis upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Level of effort: Full time. Sometimes the Coordinator may be required to work over the weekends and public holidays, and to travel in the field, or internationally.
