Job Summary:
The Joint Venture Accountant will be responsible for preparing monthly Joint Interest Billings, Cash Calls for EA1 and EA2, responding to queries from JV partners, and ensuring proper filing of all Joint Venture reports. This role includes participation in annual Joint Venture budgets preparation, Joint Venture Technical Planning Meetings, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act controls in reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly Joint Interest Billings (JIBs) and Cash Calls for EA1 and EA2.
  • Timely response to queries from JV partners regarding JIBs and Cash Calls.
  • Proper filing and archiving of Joint Venture reports and communications.
  • Participation in the preparation of annual Joint Venture budgets and associated meetings.
  • Involvement in Joint Venture meetings to review Non-Operated billings and estimation of monthly Non-Operated accruals.
  • Posting of approved Non-Operated Billings in Salsa.
  • Review and reconciliation of partner JIB with budgets to identify potential overruns.
  • Participation in Joint Venture meetings with JV partner representatives.
  • Preparation of non-operated budgets and operating procedures.
  • Compliance with relevant Sarbanes-Oxley Act controls in reporting.
  • Preparation of Cost Recovery Statements and Request for Services (RFS) reports for the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU).
  • Organization and coordination of Joint Venture audits.
  • Support to the Tax manager for tax/cost recovery audits.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or related field. ACCA/CPA is an added advantage.
  • At least six years of experience in Finance in the Oil & Gas Upstream Sector.
  • Good knowledge of FI/CO/MM/JVA domains of SAP ERP.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Oil & Gas business.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Adobe design tools (advantageous).
  • Ability to handle aggressive deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
