KIU Student Accommodation
Introduction
The Directorate of Students Affairs accommodation and Health section provides both on and off-campus accommodation for students as per individual’s choice. Accommodation inside the college is limited and in high demand at the beginning of an academic session.
Accommodation type
There are two major categories of Hostels that is; On and Off campus Hostels. On campus hostels are within the campus and Off campus hostels are outside the campus. Rooms available are named Executive and Standard, of which the executive rooms have additional facilities like transport and most of these rooms are self contained and of high quality. The standard rooms are basically normal with a mattress, bed, study table and a chair. Note that the executive rooms can comprise of some of the additional facilities but not all of them together, hence it is important to inquire via given contact details or Email before one decides to make a choice. On-campus hostels have been reserved for girls only and the rooms available are for 4, 6 and 8 students (Standard). Off- campus hostels are for both girls and boys and they offer rooms for 1, 2, and 4 students. The university collaborates with private stakeholders to run off-campus hostels under special agreement following conditions like provision of security to our students, standard facility, reliable electricity and water supply, high level of hygiene and discipline, transport for those far from the university and abiding to university rules and regulations. Note that; for those hostels with transport facility, transport fee is within the Hostel fee paid by a student.

Application procedure
Following this trend, students are advised to make bookings before the opening date by filling hostel application forms at the college or send the application details to studentsaffairs@kiu.ac.tz before the opening date (View opening date). Alternatively students may apply directly at the college through students Affairs office.
Hostel facilities
All facilities have favorable environment, having a bed, mattress, study table, a chair, (some with transport facility), security, electricity & water catered for. Special arrangement for PHD or Masters Students can be done on request. It is important to fill hostel application form for informational purposes. Reservation for up-coming semester
Continuing students are advised to communicate with the matron or patron to make reservation of rooms for the forth coming semester once the semester ends before leaving for holiday. It might require a student to register in a special registration form or booking form, pay a deposit or even pay for a full year depending on individual?s ability so as to secure their rooms.
