Master Scholarships in Sustainable Territorial Development

Sustainable Territorial Development (STeDe) Master aims to create experts in the area of sustainable territorial development.

More concretely it trains professionals to be able to help organizations acting in the territory (enterprises, local communities, civil society organizations) to draft sustainable development policies for economic, social, environmental, international and intercultural management.

The Master concerns the economic competitiveness, social inclusion, environmental protection, international cooperation and intercultural relation challenges of territorial development focussing not only on local communities, but also on enterprises, non-state actors and civil society organizations.

It also aims to offer an example of sustainable territory involving all local organizations, which should have human resources available and able to promote sustainable development.

The Master refers to the ability of:

 

  • Giving recommendations in the area of sustainable territorial development in the context of climate change and biodiversity loss;
  • Taking part in the idea, analysis and management of a sustainable development policy on the territory;
  • Assessing the different validation tools for sustainable development actions and policies within public and private territorial organizations.Job opportunities:Job opportunities for alumni could be found in all sectors where sustainable development actions should be implemented, in particular at territorial organizations responsible for the creation of sustainable territories (territorial communities, enterprises, non-state actors and civil society organizations, local governments), the central government and international organizations.

    Potential posts are: environmental adviser; sustainable development manager in local communities, public administrations, enterprises, civil society organizations & local governments; representative within local public institutions, national and international institutions, enterprises, trade unions & professional bodies.

    Admission criteria:

    Candidates with education in human and social sciences (economics, geography, development, management, law, etc.) or hard sciences (agriculture, environmental sciences, engineering, etc.) will be accepted to the Master. A basic knowledge of economics will be appreciated.

    A good command of English and/or French, both spoken and written, is required. Students without a good command in one of the two languages, will be requested to attend a compulsory language training, outside the curriculum.

    Please note that:

 

  • Students must study at least in 3 of the consortium partner countries.
  • At least 2 of the visited countries must be different from the country in which students have obtained their last university degree (but students without Erasmus Mundus scholarship are allowed to study in the country of their last university degree).
  • Individuals who have already benefited from an EMMC scholarship are not eligible for a second scholarship in order to follow the same or another EMMC.
  • Students benefiting from an EMMC scholarship cannot benefit from another Community grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus masters studies.
  • EMMC students scholarships are awarded exclusively for a full-time enrolment in one of the course.
  • Tuition fees will be deducted from the Erasmus Mundus scholarship.Master Scholarships – Erasmus Mundus Students ScholarshipsFor STeDe Master course 10 Erasmus Mundus Scholarships Category A scholarships are available.

    Category A Scholarships for Third-country nationals can be awarded to masters students from all countries other than the 27 EU member states and EEA/EFTA states: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

    Furthermore, candidates must comply with the 12 months rule: they must not be a resident nor have carried out main activity (studies, work etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these European countries.

    Full scholarships consists:

  • Contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs – 4,000 euro per academic year
  • Contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage) – 7,000 euro per academic year
  • Monthly allowance (during 12 months/year) – 1,000 euro per month.
