About US:
The Uganda Cancer Institute is mandated by me UCI Act of 2016 to undertake cancer care, research and training. The UCI is also the designated EastAfrica Regional Centre of Excellence in Cancer Care, Research and Training.
The Institute officer’s comprehensive cancer care for screening, diagnosis, policy, care, research and training with all treatment modalities. In a bid to improve the services offered to Ugandans, UCI is expanding its radiotherapy facility having acquired additional two radiotherapy machines.
It is critical to the evolution of a National Centre of Excellence, providing specialized treatment and care for all types of cancer using all the available subspecialty expertise possible, as well as engineering oncology-centered research and training.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To carry out calibration of radiotherapy equipment;
- To carry out routine therapy and imaging machine performance tests;
- To plan for radiotherapy treatments;
- To handle radiotherapy patients in consultation with Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapy Officers and Radiotherapy Technicians;
- To ensure radiation safety standards for environment and personnel;
- To assess and investigate different radiotherapy treatment regimens; and
- Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Physics from a recognized institution; and
- Clinical training in Medical Physics of at least one year at an accredited institution is an added advantage.
