Job Title:    Intern Research and Advocacy (No Experience Jobs)

Organisation: National Coalition for Human Rights Defenders (NCHRD-U)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Advocacy and Networking Officer

 

About US:

National Coalition for Human Rights Defenders (NCHRD-U) was established in 2013 with 58 members. The coalition has nearly doubled in size since then, and now consists of 149 individual and organisational members from across the human rights sector in Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Support to NCHRD-U Policy, Research and Advocacy Initiatives
  • Identify research issues for policy engagement
  • Update research related information on the NCHRD-U database and other forums
  • Support review of generated research findings and activity related findings for learning and basis of implementation
  • Support effective implementation of knowledge sharing, knowledge management and advocacy strategy
  • Support the use of research and other learning for resource mobilization
  • Proactively offer any innovative ideas and proposed action to NCHRD-U on policy actions and key messages which contribute to the design of the strategic plan, advocacy and communication strategies and to further improve the effectiveness of the knowledge generation functions of the project;
  • Support initiatives for policy-based research, policy briefs ensuring top quality, relevance, and timeliness;
  • Contribute regularly to the ongoing development and enrichment of the inventory of priority issues and applied policy-based research; contribute both directly, based on personal knowledge, and indirectly, through consultations with development partners and stakeholders;
  • Contribute substantively to the development of relevant research initiatives and related papers
  • Support identification of information related to policy-driven issues;
  • Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learnt directly linked to project goals
  • Ensure effective implementation of knowledge sharing, knowledge management and advocacy strategy
  • Review and support compilation of relevant project reports including Research Reports, Activity Reports and other donor required reports

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant should be pursuing in final stage or has finalized a bachelor’s degree in any related field
  • Good report writing skills
  • Previously engaged in research, data collection and analysis
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good team player and ability to work under minimum supervision.
