Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) 2024-2025 Application

The Namibia Students Financial Assistance (NSFAF) Fund is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2024-2025 applications.

Applications will start on 06 January 2024-2025 for Undergraduate Postgraduates and Vocational applicants to study at local and SADC/International recognition institutions with accredited programs.

NSFAF MATURE APPLICANTS INFORMATION

Note that mature age applicants will only be accepted for local public institutions namely:

  1. UNAM
  2. NUST and
  3. NAMCOL

It is mandatory that all required documents are uploaded during the application period as no additional documents will be accepted after the dealine.

2024-2025 NSFAF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The following documents are mandatory:

1.Certified copy of applicant’s Full Birth Certificate
2.Certified copy of applicants Namibian Identity Document (ID)
3.Certified copy of grade 12 or school leaving certificate.
4.Certified copy of Undergraduate qualification and its transcript (applicable to Postgraduate applicants)
5.Proof of combined Parental Income or declarations for applicants who are 28 years of age or younger and unemployed.
6.Own or spousal income or both for employed applicants who are above the age of 28 and declarations if unemployed.
7.Proof of 2024-2025 admission or registration for those intending to study outside the country

2024-2025 NSFAF POSTGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS (DOCUMENTS)

1.Applicants apply towards priority fields of studies which are available on www.nsfaf.na.
2.Applicajts should have not received more than two awards from NSFAF.
3.Total combined debt to NSFAF may not exceed N$350,000 (previous debt plus loan to be awarded)
4.If you have previously benefited from the NSFAF, attach an acknowledgment of debt and/or proof of repayment arrangement.
5.Applicants are subjected to vetting with employment status (including self-employment).
6.Only a set of pre-detremined fee will be committed, subject to availability of funds.

NOTE:

1.Students will be provisionally awarded provided the applicant meets the NSFAF basic funding requirements.
2.All applicants will be required to apply online.
3.Due dates are final and will not be extended.
4.It is mandatory for all vocational Training and education trainees to also apply online.

NSFAF 2024-2025 application deadline/closing date: 16 March 2024-2025.

2021 Online Application Notice

Online application is open for Undergraduates, Postgraduates and Vocational applicants enrolled or wish to study at local and SADC/International recognized institutions with accredited programs.

Please note that mature age applications will only be accepted for local public institutions, namely: UNAM, NUST and NAMCOL.

  • Certified copy/copies of school leaving certificate(s) [Grade 11/12 or equivalent].
  • Certified copy of Undergraduate qualification and its transcript (applicable to Postgraduate applicants).
  • Proof of combined Parental Income or declarations for applicants who are 28 years of age or younger and unemployed.
  • Certified copy of applicant’s parents Identity Documents (ID) or death certificates if deceased or declarations if documents do not exist.
  • Own or spousal income or both for employed applicants who are above the age of 28 and declarations if unemployed.
  • Proof of 2021 admission or registration if available during the application period.

Due to funding limitations, postgraduate applications are subject to criteria below:

  • Awards will be given to those studying towards priority fields of studies (priority fields will be made available on our website, www.nsfaf.na, in due course)
  • Applicants should have not received more than two funding opportunities from NSFAF.
  • Total combined debt to NSFAF may not exceed N$350,000 (previous debt plus loan to be awarded).
  • If you have previously benefited from the NSFAF, you will be requested to attach an acknowledgement of debts and/or proof of repayment arrangement, before an award can be issued.
  • Applicants are subjected to vetting with employment status (including self-employment).
  • Only a set of pre-determined fee will be committed, subject to availability of funds.

Note:

  • Students will be provisionally awarded provided the applicant meets the NSFAF basic funding requirements.
  • All applicants will be required to apply online.
  • Due dates are final and will not be extended.
  • We remind those at Vocational Training and Education institutions to apply as no payment will be made without an application and loan contract.

NSFAF 2024-2025 Undergraduate Grade 12 Requirements

Undergraduate studies for local institutions

  • An applicant should be a Namibian citizen;
  • An applicant should apply to study full/part-time or distance at accredited and recognized Institutions of Higher Learning;
  • Applicants should have obtained 25 points (in grade 12) in five subjects with an F in English to qualify for funding at local Institutions of Higher Learning, however applicants intending to study Education and Law should obtain 25 points (in grade 12) in five subjects with a minimum of E in English;
  • Applicants who have improved their English through English Programme offered by institutions of higher learning will also be considered provided that such a programme is not less than three (3) months and they have obtained a pass;
  • Applicants who obtained post-grade 12 qualifications (minimum NQF Level 5) but have less than 25 points in grade 12/school leaving certificate may be considered for local Institutions if they have obtained a minimum of 20 points and an F in English in grade 12 or equivalent school leaving certificate. However, applicants who intend to study Education and Law should obtain an E in English in grade 12 as per sub-section 12.2.3
  • Applicant admitted on Mature Age Entry should be considered for funding provided that a proof of admission on mature age from the Institution is provided to NSFAF. Applicants should at least be 23 years old. Mature Age Entry is restricted to local Institutions only.
  • Pre or bridging programmes will only be considered if the programme is a pre-requisite of the formal programmes. In the event, where the pre-programme is only implemented for the students who did not meet the requirements of the actual programme, then application for those students will not be considered.
  • Applicants should provide proof of parental income, if unemployed a declaration under oath should be provided.
  • Local students must have been registered at Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) to qualify for funding.
  • Foreign qualifications (including grade 12 certificates) should be submitted with an evaluation from Namibia Qualification Authority (NQA) attached to the application forms.
  • Applicants (students) that are employed and studying part-time or distance may be funded depending on the field of study. This funding is limited to high and medium priority fields of study as determined annually by NSFAF, provided that their income does not exceed N$300,000 per annum. Financial assistance will be in the form of tuition fees only.

NSFAF 2024-2025 Vocational Training centers and Health Training Center Requirements

Local Vocational Education Training- requirements

  • Applicants should be Namibian citizens.
  • Full-time/Part-time Applicants studying at accredited and recognized Vocational Training Centres (Institutions registered under Vocational Education and Training Act 1 of 2008).
  • All applications must be completed on the appropriate application forms and should be submitted before the deadline.
  • Beneficiaries should be graded and obtain a minimum of 22 points in six (6)subjects in grade 10,
  • Beneficiaries should have obtained admission at an approved Vocational Training Centre in Namibia.
  • Beneficiaries should be studying high or medium priority fields of study as determined from time to time to qualify for funding
  • No students should be considered for NSFAF funding, if already benefited for the programme of the same level.

Vocational Education TrainingSADC/International requirements

  • Sponsorships for Vocational Education outside Namibia will be loans.
  • Applicants should be Namibian citizens
  • Applicant may be considered for funding to study at Institutions in the Republic of South Africa only in higher and medium priority field of study if the programme/level is not offered in Namibia.
  • Study abroad in Vocational Training Program in other countries will only be considered through Institutions identified by NSFAF.

NSFAF 2024-2025 Post Graduate Requirements

Post-graduate financial assistance Local Institutions requirements

  • Applicants should be Namibian citizens.
  • Full-time/Part-time/Distance applicants studying at accredited and recognized Institutions of Higher Learning.
  • Applicants studying towards: Honours, Masters and PhD programmes.
  • Applicants studying towards an Honours level must have obtained an undergraduate qualification.
  • Emphasis will be given to applicants studying towards a qualification that are in line with the completed qualification.
  • Applicants should submit proof of provisional admission attached to their applications.

Postgraduate studies outside Namibia – Requirements

  • Applicants should be Namibian citizens.
  • Full-time/Part-time/Distance applicants studying at accredited and recognized Institutions of Higher Learning.
  • Applicants studying towards: Honours, Masters and PhD programmes.
  • Applicants studying towards an Honours level must have obtained an undergraduate qualification.
  • Emphasis will be given to applicants studying towards a qualification that are in line with the completed qualification.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants studying towards higher and medium priority field of studies.
  • Preference will be given to the students studying at SADC and local Institutions.
  • Applicants should submit proof of provisional admission attached to their applications.
  • Only students studying in high priority category fields of study will be funded.
  • Part-time/distance/modular/online studies will be funded under co-sponsorship for high and medium priority fields of studies only. NSFAF pays only a portion of tuition fees up to 40%.
