Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated Programme Coordinator for Climate Justice, who will play a pivotal role in the implementation and coordination of the “Global Girls Creating Change (G2C2)” project in Uganda. This role focuses on empowering diverse girls to lead inclusive climate action and influence climate policies and actions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Programme Management (50%):
    • Lead the effective implementation and monitoring of the G2C2 project.
    • Coordinate girl-led needs assessments and research for evidence-based implementation.
    • Facilitate training and skills development in green entrepreneurship and climate activism.
    • Conduct community dialogues on gender norms and climate activism engagement.
    • Develop girl-led climate advocacy action plans.
  2. Partnership Development and Management (15%):
    • Manage timely reporting and elevate girls’ coalitions in national and global climate justice platforms.
    • Support girls in creating a Global Girls Climate Manifesto and actionable advocacy plans.
  3. People Management and Development (15%):
    • Set clear objectives and development plans for the Programme Officer and project leaders.
    • Provide continual support, supervision, and performance management.
  4. Financial Planning and Management (15%):
    • Oversee project budgeting and financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with Restless Development’s financial policies.
  5. Other Duties (5%):
    • Additional responsibilities as required, including occasional weekend and holiday work.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Graduate-level degree in Environment, Climate, Advocacy, Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in program budget management and staff management.
    • Strong partnership development skills.
    • Excellent decision-making and organizational capabilities.
  • Desirable:
    • Postgraduate qualification in Project Planning.
    • Experience in M&E systems and research.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Understanding of gender mainstreaming and risk management.
    • Motorcycle riding skills with a valid permit.
