Job Summary:

The Project Management Lead at Tugende is a seasoned project management professional responsible for overseeing a small team of Project Management Officers and managing select projects within Tugende. This role entails ensuring effective management of projects from definition to execution, including project planning, team management, financial analysis, stakeholder management, and reporting. The Project Management Lead reports to the Head of Business Support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Align project management objectives with the organization’s strategy.
    • Manage Tugende’s project portfolio, prioritizing internal process improvements and new business development.
    • Provide leadership to the Project Management Team, ensuring adherence to project management best practices.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the department.
  2. Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors and relevant stakeholders.
    • Coordinate project activities and communicate progress and risks to stakeholders.
    • Facilitate project meetings and workshops, ensuring structured implementation of action items.
  3. Project Management and Planning:
    • Support the development of projects, including defining issues, root causes, and project goals.
    • Conduct data analysis to monitor project KPIs and ensure effective resource allocation.
    • Manage project budgets, risks, and resource allocation, ensuring accountability and adherence to timelines.
    • Oversee project development and rollout, driving positive change within the organization.
  4. Project Management Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Proactively identify problems and process inefficiencies, making recommendations for improvement.
    • Track quarterly project goals and provide regular status reports to senior management.
    • Document project creation, development, and execution according to project management guidelines.
    • Implement impact measurement frameworks to evaluate project effectiveness over time.
  5. New Business Development:
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to conduct market research for new products and services.
    • Develop proposals for new product pilots and support their implementation.
    • Assist in credit process implementation and supplier assessment for new products.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Administration, Project Management, or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or experience with process improvement (LEAN) is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as a senior project manager or similar role.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and data analytical skills.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with good collaboration and problem-solving abilities.
