About the Role: Saferworld, an independent international organization working to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives, is seeking a Project Officer for their Kampala office. The officer will support the delivery of the project ‘Strengthening Locally-led solutions to intersecting peace, gender, and climate change challenges in the borderlands of Uganda’.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Implementation: Responsible for day-to-day implementation, documentation, and operation of project activities. This includes coordinating work with partners, delivering training, and ensuring timely completion of internal and external reports.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with project partners and represent Saferworld at external meetings. Promote lessons learned from the organization’s work.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor the impact of Saferworld’s work in Uganda, participate in debriefings, and contribute to organizational learning. Maintain a database of project outcomes and coordinate monitoring visits.
  • Advocacy and Movement Building: Identify and engage with Transboundary CSO Forums, support community groups and local partners in developing strategies, and facilitate consultations with authorities and the private sector on natural resource management and green innovation.
  • Financial Management: Assist in identifying funding opportunities, maintain donor relations, draft project donor reports, and prepare budget forecasts.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Relevant academic qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in peacebuilding, gender, and climate change.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, including outcome tracking and reporting.
  • Advocacy and movement-building experience in related fields.
  • Financial management skills, including budget forecasting and donor reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in relevant software tools.
