Saferworld, an independent international organization working to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives, is hiring a Project Officer in Kampala, Uganda.

About Saferworld: Saferworld collaborates with people affected by conflict to improve their safety and sense of security. They conduct research and analysis to improve local, national, and international policies and practices for lasting peace.

Job Summary: The Project Officer will support the delivery of the project ‘Strengthening Locally-led solutions to intersecting peace, gender and climate change challenges in the borderlands of Uganda’. The role involves day-to-day implementation, documentation, and operations of project activities, with a focus on planning, technical expertise, coordination, and monitoring.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support effective delivery of the project, including coordination with partners and facilitating training and consultations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in support of Saferworld’s work in Uganda.
  • Monitor and evaluate the project’s work and contribute to reporting.
  • Represent Saferworld at external meetings and promote lessons learned.
  • Contribute to cross-organizational learning and sharing.
  • Coordinate staff and donor monitoring visits and evaluations.
  • Engage in capacity strengthening, movement building, and advocacy work.
  • Manage funding, budgets, and administration for the project.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Honours degree in peace and conflict studies, social sciences, or development studies.
  • 3-5 years of experience in peace and/or governance issues in an NGO.
  • Understanding of peace,

governance, conflict sensitivity, and civil society workings.

  • Knowledge and experience in gender-sensitive programming is an added advantage.
  • Experience in project administration, planning, and implementation.
  • Good understanding of conflict-sensitive programming.
  • Experience with peacebuilding and natural resource/land-related projects is beneficial.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating workshops and seminars.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to relate sensitively to diverse groups.
  • Self-driven with the ability to deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Strong report

-writing skills with proficiency in English.

  • Interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research.
  • Participatory research and programming skills.
