Job Summary: The resilience and livelihood specialist will support the Programme Manager to provide overall strategic leadership in the Resilience & Livelihoods sector, guiding relevant programming in development contexts across West Nile.

The jobholder will contribute to World Vision’s role as a thought leader in the resilience and livelihoods sector; and support continuous improvement in Resilience & Livelihoods programming through their technical expertise, facilitation of learning and innovation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

Resilience and livelihoods programming

  • Ongoing enhancement of World Vision’s Resilience & Livelihoods programming at strategy, programme and project design levels for greater impact on child well-being.
  • This shall include:
  • Support ongoing design processes related to all Resilience and Livelihood programmes and projects, including strategy alignment and review processes.
  • Monitor programme and project quality at outcome and impact levels, facilitate evidencebased organizational learning processes and promote innovation for continuous improvement in programming impact.
  • Support relevant reporting functions, particularly at outcome and impact level, notably including the bi-annual Child Well-being Report.

Support effective implementation of Resilience & Livelihoods programmes and projects

  • Implements activities as described in the project proposal based on WVU country policy Technical guidance and support to programme and project implementation.
  • Technical capacity building of project staff, partner staff and other key stakeholders, as required.

Networking and Collaboration

  • Support engagement with key stakeholders for influence, learning and resource development:
  • Represent WVU in key inter-agency fora
  • Engage and build relationships with key partners and government counterparts
  • Engage with donor agencies and other stakeholders, from time to time, as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Grant Acquisition Business Plan through technical input to grant proposals.

Documentation, Reporting and knowledge management

  • Writes and submits comprehensive quarterly progress reports, and specific activity reports, and any other reports when necessary to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Reporting – monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including realization of activities versus budget utilization; (Providing input to) narrative and financial programme reporting;
  • Semiannual and Annual reviews of progress towards project objectives;
  • Take lead in documentation and sharing of Impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning.
  • Organize quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at the project sites to reflect on project approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning

   Child Protection and Wellbeing

  • Work to protect children from child violations and abuses
  • Sensitize stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the World Vision Resilience and Livelihood Specialist job placement must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in development studies, agriculture, economics or other relevant field is a requirement (post-graduate degree is an advantage).
  • Previous experience in community work and engagement Agricultural, Economic Development and Livelihood is and added advantage
  • Climate Smart Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, micro finance and strong agribusiness skills
  • Five years’ experience in field-based programme management roles in Resilience & Livelihoods sector
  • At least three years’ experience working with vulnerable communities and familiarity with humanitarian programming and implementation
  • Experience with relevant technical models such as Village Savings & Loans, Local Value Chain Development and Ultra-Poor Graduation Model.
  • Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Capacity/potential in leadership, relationship management/networking, and coordination.
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to take an evidence-based approach to programme design.
  • Proven facilitation skills.
