Windle International Uganda (WIU) formerly Windle Trust Uganda is a registered INGO whose mission is to promote peace and development in communities through provision and coordination of Education and training for Refugees and people affected by conflict.Windle International Uganda is the lead partner of UNHCR in implementing Education Projects in Uganda with close collaboration with the Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime Minister.
Job Summary: The Security and Safety Officer (SSO) will be responsible for developing and coordinating the security and safety policy and procedures for Windle International Uganda. The security and safety officer will also conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation measures for Windle staff, assets and equipment while ensuring an effective Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is in place. The SSO will update the Executive Director on the organization security and safety situation at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular Security and safety assessments and provide recommendations regarding personnel and assets to the Executive Director and the Windle Global Security Manager.
- Take the lead in the operationalization of the Windle International Safety and Security Policy and applicable SOPs.
- Develop standard operating procedures for staff working in emergency including procedures for movement control, office environment and access, etc.
- Provide training on basic emergency drills, fire and safety precautions for all staff.
- Conduct Regular security briefings to sensitize staff on the environment in which they work
- Support Management in investigating complaints of and cases of misconduct brought forward by staff and or whistleblowers as may be assigned by the Senior Management Team Build active networks to gather current safety/security information and take responsibility for all security relationships with law enforcement and community representatives.
- Train, supervise and mentor WIU security guard staffs; recommend and/or provide staff training on safety and security as appropriate
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive staff travel management program based on current risk assessments and road reconnaissance,
- Develop and implement first aid, security and driver trainings. t Any other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Windle International Uganda (WIU) Security and Safety Officer job opportunity must have Basic Security training, with University Diploma or Degree from a Reputable institution
- Three years of verifiable security work experience in a reputable organization or government institution (required)
- Must have no history of child protection or Children’s rights’ violations
- Candidates should have excellent written communications skills and proficiency in the English
- language.
